摘要: Method and apparatus for providing an electric motor such as used on an oil well pumping unit with stall protection. The system comprises means for generating a signal representative of motor speed and for establishing at least two stall speed set points corresponding to upper and lower stall speeds of the motor. Upon the motor speed signal reaching the upper speed set point for one time duration or the lower stall speed set point for a second short time duration, a motor control function is generated. The system may be used for motors having a plurality of operating modes. In this case, at least two stall condition suites, comprising at least two upper and lower stall speed set points as described above, are established corresponding to at least two motor modes, e.g., high torque and low torque modes. The motor winding leads are monitored to identify whether the motor is in the high torque or low torque mode and the appropriate stall condition suite selected.

摘要: A speed controller for a mill drive has two control portions. The first control portion has a first speed of response for controlling mill speed during normal operation. The second control portion has a second speed of response, faster than the first speed of response, for controlling mill speed following abrupt changes in load torque. The first control portion has a reference speed input and this is compared with actual motor speed and the result gives a current reference signal. The current reference signal is compared with a signal representing actual current to derive an error signal used to control the supply of power to the motor. The second control portion multiplies the current reference signal with a signal representing flux to provide a signal representing a model of developed torque. This is compared with a signal representing a model of load torque and the difference integrated to provide a signal representing a model of motor speed. This is compared with actual motor speed and the difference integrated to provide the previously referred to model of load torque. The model of load torque signal is differentiated to provide a compensating speed signal. The compensating speed signal is used to adjust the comparison, in the first portion, of reference speed and actual speed.

The firing phase angle of a thyristor is controlled in response to an error signal representative of an error between a commanded motor speed and an actual motor speed. For preventing demagnetization of the permanent magnets due to the armature reaction, the clamp level of the error signal is changed in accordance with the actual motor speed.

摘要: Operation of a separately excited DC motor at maximum efficiency is achieved by continuously varying armature and field current in accordance with an operator-commanded motor torque amplitude signal. Armature current is varied in accordance with its magnitude of deviation from an armature current command signal which is generated in accordance with a predetermined relationship between the operator-commanded torque amplitude signal and field current. Field current is simultaneously varied in accordance with its magnitude of deviation from a field current command signal which is generated in accordance with magnitude of the armature current command signal. Since the motor is thus provided with the optimum field at all times, maximum motor efficiency is achieved irrespective of loading or speed.

摘要: A speed control system for a d-c electric motor comprising a three-terminal space control IC to provide a constant voltage source having a negative internal resistance equal in absolute value to the internal resistance of the motor and thereby render the motor rotatable at a constant controlled speed. A resistance element having a positive temperature coefficient is used as an external circuit element for the IC so that rotation speed variations relative to load torque variations will be substantially constant despite variations in the ambient temperature.

摘要: A D.C. reversible drive motor is operated by a motor control system to control motor speed in dependence upon an error signal, representing a given relationship between an actual motor speed signal and a desired reference signal. If the motor operates in a regenerative mode and the actual motor speed exceeds that required for the available torque, a speed modifier control circuit operates to effectively modify the speed reference signal. This causes the motor speed to decrease so that the speed-torque relationship is maintained within prescribed limits.

摘要: An electric hair clipper of the rotary motor type possessing superior cutting power and having a casing of relatively small transverse dimensions for enhanced visibility of the cutting blades and comfortable handling during use. The size and shape of the drive motor establish the dimensions of the casing, the motor having small transverse dimensions in relation to its power capacity. The motor, which has a permanent magnet field and is energized by direct current, may be single speed, two speed, or continuously variable in speed over a wide range, each version having a stall torque comparable to that of a motor of larger size, or a motor designed for a higher no-load speed. The motor has a power supply energized by commercial alternating current power, the power supply including a rectifying means having an output means providing power to the motor in an amount depending on the mechanical load encountered by the motor. As the motor tends to slow down due to load, more power is supplied. In one form, the output means includes a Zener diode, in another a Zener diode and shunting switch, in yet another a silicon controlled rectifier circuit, and in another a silicon controlled rectifier circuit with an adjusting means. The field structure of the motor includes a permanent magnet means wherein the ratio of field structure length to field structure diameter (L/D) exceeds 1.25 with the field structure diameter less than about 1 1/4 inches, providing a motor of small transverse dimensions. In more detailed aspect, the field structure provides a skewed magnetic field, enhancing smoothness of motor operation, and, due to the reduced size of the motor, the axis of the motor shaft intersects the movable clipper blade adjacent the cutting teeth, permitting use of an inexpensive transmission of the cam type.

摘要: A full-wave adjustable motor speed control system with feedback for automatic regulation of the speed of an AC motor such as a series or universal motor. A bidirectional thyristor triode in series with the motor armature winding is controlled by a firing circuit operated by a ramp and pedestal voltage. The ramp may be set at a fixed value whereas the pedestal is adjusted for desired speed and regulated by a feedback signal. This feedback signal is developed in an amplifying feedback circuit that is adjusted to eliminate unwanted characteristics and to provide a true speed signal proportional to motor counter EMF.

摘要: In a tape recorder/reproducer apparatus, particularly where a low-inertia highly responsive drive train is used, tape speed control means including a variable-speed motor for the drive train energized through a closed-loop servosystem in which the actual output speed of the motor is monitored by a sensor and compared to a reference, to closely control the motor speed in accordance with the reference. The reference is provided by a freely supported capstan which senses actual tape speed at the tape head and produces an output which is compared to a predetermined reference representative of the desired tape speed, such that the motor is servo controlled to satisfy a predetermined tape speed function.
