Abstract:
Footbeds for footwear, especially sandals, are formed from weldable plastic materials, such as industrial and commercial carpeting, and are provided with patterns welded into the material and with decorative prints or patterns welded to the physical patterns. The footbeds are very decorative in appearance and produce very saleable footwear products. A process for conveniently and economically producing the decorative footbeds is also disclosed.
Abstract:
A reactive polymeric material that can be applied onto a structure is provided. The temperature of the structure can be increased such that the reactive material can chemically bond to the structure. For example, the thin film of reactive polymeric material can be utilized to protectively coat a structure or to bond together two or more structurally dissimilar or structurally similar materials.
Abstract:
A method is described for producing a microstructured surface relief by applying to a substrate a coating composition which is thixotropic or which acquires thixotropic properties by pretreatment on the substrate, embossing the surface relief into the applied thixotropic coating composition with an embossing device, and curing the coating composition following removal of the embossing device. The substrates obtainable by this method, provided with a microstructured surface relief, are particularly suitable for optical, electronic, micromechanical and/or dirt repellency applications.
Abstract:
A patterned element for use in an embossing and adhesive application process. The patterened element comprises a material having an pattern disposed thereon, wherein the material comprises a polymer and has a Shore A hardness of greater than about 70, and has a critical surface energy of less than about 30 dynes/cm.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method of producing thick-walled brushes, in particular toothbrushes, with a grip piece and a brush head supporting bristle filaments. In order to increase the productivity, the method mentioned at the start is further developed by the present invention in that a core produced in a first injection molding cycle is coated with a plastic component in at least one subsequent injection molding cycle so as to form a multi-layered grip piece.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method of thermoforming and partly cutting thermoforming objects, which comprises intermittently feeding a tape or plate (2) of thermoformable material to a thermoforming press (46); thermoforming and cutting the tape or plate in a mould (48, 50) to obtain at least one thermoformed article (51) surrounded by residual web or waste (57), wherein partial cutting is carried out by means of punch-and-die cutting means (52, 54) and cutting affects the whole outline of each thermoformed object (51) and has at least one discontinuity (55) which results in one or more tiny connection sections or witness beads (58) connecting each thermoformed object (51) to the waste (57).
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method of continuously fabricating a coaxial cable in which ring-shaped corrugations are imparted to a conductor of the cable in a corrugator. The corrugator is made to operate at constant speed.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a shaping shoulder and to a device for producing longitudinally shaped webs with an open or closed cross-section and at least one zone inside the web, in which the cross-section curves outwards. Said webs are for example tubular bags comprising longitudinal folds, tubular bags with one or more chambers formed by subdivisions in a longitudinal direction, in addition to webs that are corrugated longitudinally. The shaping shoulder consists of one or more shoulder sections (2) and a prism section (3), which combine to form a three-dimensional shaping edge (5), with zones of the prism section curving outwards. The curvature of the shaping edge sections belonging to said zones, viewed from the centre of the web towards the edge of the web, slopes in the opposite direction to the displacement of the web and the corresponding zones of the shoulder section curve away from the outlet of the tube.
Abstract:
An improvement to existing board manufacturing process which utilize lignocellulose particles is described wherein the adhesive to be applied as a binder is at least partly applied before the particles are dried. Using the invention improvement in resin application rates without increase in the water content of the particles fed to a press is achieved. Reduction in edge thickness swelling has been achieved.
Abstract:
A process for upgrading brown coal is disclosed, including providing at least two converging surfaces defining a nip, wherein at least one of the surfaces is rollable in a direction toward the nip; feeding the brown coal to the nip where, by the rolling action of the rollable surface, the brown coal is subjected to shearing stresses, causing attritioning of the microporous structure of the brown coal and the release of water contained in the micropores; and continuing the shearing attritioning until the brown coal forms into a plastic mass. Processes for the production of char are also disclosed utilizing as feed material pellets formed from the upgraded brown coal produced by the above process, as well as a process for recovering metal from a metal containing material.
