Abstract: The invention relates to a method for manufacturing a coil spring and for determining a propelling condition for a shot medium. In a case where it is confirmed that the coating film remains in a third step, at least one or more of conditions of the shot peening treatment including a propelling speed of the shot medium, a propelling time of the shot medium, a material of the shot medium, and an average particle diameter of the shot medium are changed and the second step and the third step are repeated until the coating film does not remain. In a case where it is confirmed that the coating film does not remain in the third step, the condition of the shot peening treatment in the second step in which the coil spring is obtained with no remaining coating film is determined as the propelling condition for the shot medium.

Abstract: A substrate for use in an aqueous slurry has a polymeric coating to provide a compliant and sticky surface. The polymer coating has a chemical to render the surface hydrophobic so as to attract hydrophobic or hydrophobized mineral particles in the slurry. The substrate can take the form of a conveyor belt, a bead, a mesh, an impeller, a filter or a flat surface. The substrate can also be an open-cell foam. The polymeric coating can be modified with tackifiers; plasticizers; crosslinking agents; chain transfer agents; chain extenders; adhesion promoters; aryl or alky copolymers; fluorinated copolymers and/or additives; hydrophobizing agents such as hexamethyldisilazane; inorganic particles such as silica, hydrophobic silica, and/or fumed hydrophobic silica; MQ resin; and/or other additives to control and modify the properties of the polymer.

Abstract: The disclosure relates to a method of conducting a coiled tubing operation. In one implementation, a method includes forming a tubing string, the tubing string having an outer surface. The method also includes applying a coating to an application portion of the outer surface of the tubing string. The application portion includes a portion of the tubing string that will be disposed in a horizontal section of a wellbore, and the coating has a surface energy lower than a surface energy of the outer surface of the tubing string to thereby reduce friction between the tubing string and a casing disposed in the horizontal section of the wellbore as the tubing string is lowered into the wellbore.

Abstract: Methods and systems for coating metal substrates are provided. The methods and systems include sequential application of low flow and high flow powder coatings followed by a single heating step to provide a cured coating. The methods and systems include a marker that allows coating uniformity to be monitored and assessed during application. The described methods provide coatings with optimal surface smoothness and edge coverage.

Abstract: A vehicle component with a multi-layer paint system and a method for producing the same. The vehicle component has a multi-layer paint system applied to a base body of the vehicle component. The multi-layer paint system has at least a first color-giving coating layer and a second color-giving coating layer covering the first color-giving paint layer. The first color-giving coating layer and the second color-giving coating layer are separated from each other by a light-permeable intermediate coating layer. The second color-giving coating layer is removed in partial areas of the multi-layer paint system, such that the first color-giving coating layer is visible in these partial areas.

Abstract: Coating compositions are provided that eject droplets of condensed fluid from a surface. The coatings include a nanostructured coating layer and in some embodiments, also include a hydrophobic layer deposited thereon. The coating materials eject droplets from the surface in the presence of non-condensing gases such as air and may be deployed under conditions of supersaturation of the condensed fluid to be ejected. A heat exchanger design utilizing the coating is described herein.

Abstract: A disc changing system for a robotic defect repair system is presented. The system has a first abrasive disc and a second abrasive disc. The first and second abrasive discs are coupled to a liner. The system includes an abrasive disc placement device configured to automatically: remove the first abrasive disc from the liner, transport the first abrasive disc to a robotic tool of the robotic defect repair system, and place the first abrasive disc on a backup pad coupled to the robotic tool. The system also includes an abrasive disc remover configured to automatically remove the first abrasive disc after receiving a removal signal. The system also includes a controller configured to send an instruction to the disc placement device to remove, transport and place the first abrasive disc, instruct the robotic tool to conduct an abrasive operation. The controller is also configured to send the removal signal. The controller is a processor and the instructions are stored on a non-transitory computer-readable medium and executed by the processor

Abstract: A central tubular defines a central flow passage and spray nozzles along an outer circumference of the central tubular. A first brush pig supports a first end of the central tubular. A second brush pig supports a second end of the tubular. An inflatable balloon is at the second end of the tubular. The inflatable balloon is encircled by the second brush pig. The inflatable balloon is configured to cause a first pressure drop across the balloon when in an inflated state and cause a second pressure drop, less than the first pressure drop, across the balloon when in a deflated state. A flow control system is at the first end of the tubular and is configured to regulate fluid exchange with the tubular and fluid exchange with the inflatable balloon.
