    摘要: A hollow refuse storage body having a longitudinal axis is configured for mounting on a truck chassis. The body has a forward hopper section and a rear section with an open rear end. A tailgate is mounted to the rear section of the refuse storage body and is moveable between closed and open positions to seal and unseal the open rear end of the rear section of the refuse storage body. A hollow box-like load eject blade is mounted within the refuse storage body for reciprocating movement along the longitudinal axis along a bottom floor of the refuse storage body. A hollow box-like packer blade is mounted within the refuse storage body for reciprocating movement along the longitudinal axis overlapping an upper surface of the eject blade. A pair of single stage hydraulic cylinders are coupled in crisscross fashion between the refuse storage body and the packer blade for moving the packer blade over a first range of travel. The packer blade is moved rearwardly and forwardly in the hopper section and underneath a divider wall of the refuse storage body which prevents spring back of refuse. This permits the packer blade to repetitively push refuse periodically dumped into the hopper section of the refuse storage body and compact the refuse into the rear section of the refuse storage body. A multi-stage hydraulic cylinder is coupled between the refuse storage body and the eject blade for moving the eject blade over a second much greater range of travel. This permits the eject blade to push trash that has been compacted in the rear section of the refuse storage body by the packer blade out the open rear end of the rear section of the refuse storage body when the tailgate has been moved to its open position.

    摘要: An automated device for lifting and loading materials employs a pick-up arm for engaging material at ground level and an associated, inverted U-shaped lift arm. The pick-up arm can be swung relative to the lift arm about a vertical axis to bring the pick-up arm into a close-in position in front of a cab and into an outreaching position. The pick-up arm is automatically moved into the outreaching position as the lift arm moves toward a ground-level load position and is automatically moved into the close-in position as the lift arm moves toward the off-load level above ground to facilitate off-loading operations above ground. When moved closer toward the off-load position, the pick-up arm is automatically vertically tipped to facilitate off-loading operations. During off-loading operations, the vertical height of the container and lift arm assembly is minimized through the use of a dump link and associated four-bar linkage. The lift arm can also be pivoted between positions adjacent the cab and positions angularly spaced to one side of the cab. The lift assembly and pick-up arm operations can be controlled by a single operator seated within an unmodified (full) cab using a single control lever.

    摘要: A combination lifting hinge and latching mechanism for a tailgate used on a refuse hauler and compactor. A hydraulically operated lifting hinge is comprised of three principle components, namely, a hydraulic cylinder, a bell crank and a cam plate secured to the tailgate. A pair of lifting assemblies is disposed at an upper location each side of the cylindrical compactor body such that it is not easily damaged, and further, allows the compactor body to extend laterally and vertically to the maximum highway guidelines. The lifting mechanism first lifts the tailgate from the locking position such that locking pins clear side spur latches before rotation. Due to the unique camming feature and a kidney-shaped slot in the cam plate, an over-center locking feature is provided. The tailgate cannot be inadvertently lifted from a locked position due to upward forces, such as the truck hitting a bump, even if the actuating cylinder should relax its holding forces, such as during a hydraulic failure.

    摘要: A device for lifting and loading materials employs a pick-up arm for engaging material at ground level and an associated lift arm assembly. The pick-up arm can be swung relative to the lift arm about an axis that is generally perpendicular to the ground to bring the pick-up arm into a close-in position in front of a cab and into an outreaching position. The pick-up arm is automatically moved into the outreaching position as the lift arm moves toward a ground level load position and is automatically moved into the close-in position as the lift arm moves toward the off-load level above ground to facilitate off-loading operations above ground. The pick-up arm is also automatically maintained in a desired vertical relationship, parallel to the ground, as the lift arm moves between the load level and a predetermined level above ground level. When moved closer toward the off-load position, the pick-up arm is automatically vertically tipped to facilitate off-loading operations. The lift assembly can be controlled by a single operator using a single control lever. The lift arm can also be pivoted between a position next to the cab and a second position angularly spaced to one side of the cab. This can also be controlled by the single operator using the single control lever.

    摘要: The refuse collecting vehicle of the invention is used for collecting and transporting separate and distinct waste materials. The vehicle includes a vehicle chassis and a storage body mounted on the chassis. The storage body is divided into a plurality of distinct storage chambers, each of the chambers running parallel to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle. The vehicle also includes a tailgate section which is comprised of a plurality of distinct and individually actuable hopper units, each hopper unit having a loading opening which is longitudinally aligned with the respective one of the distinct storage chambers in the storage body for transferring material thereto. Each hopper unit is also pivotally mounted at the rear of the storage body for swinging movement away from the body as material is being discharged therefrom. A separate loading mechanism is provided within each hopper unit for transferring material from the hopper unit, through its loading opening, to its respective longitudinally aligned storage chamber in the storage body.

    摘要: A refuse collection apparatus including a storage body and a tailgate positioned rearwardly of the storage body which defines a hopper that is positioned adjacent to an opening into the storage body. An upper and a lower panel within the tailgate are pivotally connected and movably positioned with respect to the hopper. The upper panel is moved in a downward and rearward convexly curved path between an upward and forward position and a rearward and lowered position and the lower panel is rotated forwardly and rearwardly with respect to the upper panel. A fixed panel positioned in the tailgate structure defines the upper extent of the opening into the storage body and during upward movement of the upper panel, refuse is packed against the fixed panel.The lower surface of the fixed panel may have an upwardly curved lower surface which imparts a forward direction of movement to refuse which is packed against it. The upper panel may have a curved forward surface in close proximity to a rearward surface of the fixed panel. During movement of the upper panel, the rearward surface of the fixed panel removes refuse from the curved forward surface. The upper panel is tilted as it moves and during its upward movement the lower portion of the upper panel is tilted forwardly. This imparts a forward movement to refuse which is moved through the opening into the storage body.

    摘要: A refuse truck body for attachment to a "low entry cab chassis". This truck body includes a container having an open forward end and an open rearward end. A tailgate or cap is provided for releasably closing the open rearward end. The container further includes an ejector assembly mounted for longitudinal movement within the container. The assembly is moved between a retracted position near the front of the truck and an ejection position near the rear of the truck by a linear actuator mounted generally horizontally above the ejector assembly. The ejector assembly has triangular side panels and an upwardly forwardly inclined ejection panel which reaches partially underneath the refuse, thus allowing the load of refuse to be carried forward of the container proper, to distribute more of the load onto the front wheels.
