    摘要: A coupling for establishing a fluid-tight connection between adjacent open ends of substantially coaxial hollow elements, especially pipes, includes a pair of flanges, each formed from a section of a profiled strand, respectively fitted about the outer surfaces of the elements and provided with contact surfaces arranged to fit upon each other upon axial movement of the flanges toward each other, and in which at least one of the flanges is provided with an annular cutout forming with the other flange and the outer surfaces of the elements at the adjacent ends of the latter an annular space. A compressible or ductile sealing element is located in this annular space, and a device engaging the flanges is constructed to move the latter in axial direction toward each other.

    摘要: A high pressure joint between fluid carrying conduits and sealing ring therefor. The conduits are of circular cross section and of the type wherein the end of a first one of the conduits is received within the end of a second one of the conduits to form the joint. The sealing ring is located between the exterior surface of the end of the first conduit and the interior surface of the end of the second conduit. The sealing ring and the last mentioned exterior and interior surfaces are so configured that a fluid tight seal is achieved at the joint whether pressure be applied from the interior or the exterior of the joint.

    摘要: A sterile connector for the end of a conduit employed in the passage of blood or of blood components which comprises a resilient, deformable gasket disposed about the terminal end of a conduit, a continuous, removable yieldable flexible strip material, a portion of which is removably adhered to said gasket and overlies the end of said conduit, said strip material having a free end, said strip material being in a generally U-shaped configuration, whereby a force applied to the free end thereof withdraws the entire strip material to expose the end of said conduit; a method of joining the ends of two conduits together in a sterile manner so that blood or its components can pass therethrough which comprises providing each end with a connector as described above, arranging them in face-to-face alignment so that the ends of the conduit are in registry, drawing the connectors together so that the gasket of each connector is deformed inwardly and so that the free ends of the strip material are substantially parallel and withdrawing the strip material from each of said connectors at the same time; a pair of conduits joined together by a pair of facing connectors as described above.

    摘要: A coupling system suitable for use with glass or ceramic pipes or pipes made of similar material used in the chemical processing industry, which includes an inner seal member or gasket at the junction of the pipes. The pipe ends may be straight cut or beaded or one of the pipe ends may be beaded and the other pipe end may be straight cut. A sleeve of molded elastomeric materials surrounds the center gasket inner seal which is provided with internal retaining means to retain the seal and which inner radial surfaces adjacent of the seal are provided with a plurality of radial slots to expose a plurality of non-molded ragged edges to the relatively smooth surface of the glass or ceramic pipe for maximum gripping action. A metal band or strap is placed around the elastomer sleeve and is clamped around the pipes and provided with tightening means. In the case of a dual coupling member, to be used for connection of unbeaded pipe ends or to adapt the system to high pressure use, axially extending tie rods are provided to transmit tensile forces from one coupling member to another, while the collar tightening means aids in compressing the elastomer sleeve or elastomer sleeves tightly against the exterior surfaces of the confined pipe ends in tight sealing contact with the inner seals or gasket.
