摘要: In a perforating apparatus which has a plurality of explosive charges contained in an elongated tubular perforating gun body and supported on a carrier an energy absorber and explosive charge holder are provided by the present invention. The carrier extends longitudinally in the gun body and has the cases of the explosive charges mounted therethrough with a detonating cord or prima cord positioned at the detonating end portion of the several explosives charges. The energy absorber and explosive charge holder comprises a shaped metallic shield that grasps sides of an explosive charges case to secure it in a rigid fixed position on the carrier. An aperture in this shield permits passage of the detonating cord over the detonating end portion of the charge case and retention of it at that location. The shield encircles the detonating end portion of the explosive charge case and covers sides of the case such that upon detonation of the explosive charge laterally directed energy from the growth of the explosion is absorbed by the shield.

摘要: Bomb recovery and shield apparatus includes a cage shaped to slip over a bomb, and a clip in the cage adapted to engage the bomb and retain it inside the cage. A lead line attached to the cage is used to pull the bomb into an explosion-resistant, openended tubular shell. A lid having a shrapnel-capturing wire rope screen covers the top opening of the shell. A post extending above the top opening of the shell supports a pulley, and the lead line is reeved over the pulley prior to its attachment to the cage. A workman standing a safe distance from the bomb pulls the lead line to slip the cage over the bomb and thereafter guides the bomb toward the shell. The bomb is guided into the opening at the bottom of the shell by a guide system in the shell which includes a second pulley attached to a ring and detent pin releasably supported in the bottom of the shell. The lead line passes through the interior of the shell and is reeved over the second pulley. A fixed lead rod extends lengthwise through the interior of the shell, and the ring of the detent pin is disposed around the lead rod. The bomb and cage are drawn into the open bottom of the shell, and continued pulling on the lead line causes the detent pin and ring to release from their support and slide lengthwise upwardly along the guide rod, thereby allowing the bomb to be guided safely along the guide rod into the interior of the shell.

摘要: A containment assembly comprises a first enclosure comprising a cavity for receiving a hazardous object. The first enclosure is configured for containing an explosive event of the hazardous object. A second enclosure comprises a gas impermeable layer, an inner volume, and an air-tight closure. The second enclosure is configured for receiving and containing a gas byproduct of the explosive event from the first enclosure. A gas permeable barrier is disposed between the cavity of the first enclosure and the inner volume of the second enclosure. A smart insulation arrangement may be implemented on the lower side of the first enclosure to allow the event to happen and to cool down over a longer period of time without exceeding maximum allowable temperatures on the outside of the second enclosure. This permits the flight or journey to continue.
