Abstract: A winding body for a superconductive secondary winding for a superconductive current-limiting transformer includes a plurality of depressions and casing portions distributed around a circumference in the longitudinal direction; and grooves in the casing portions in the circumferential direction. The winding body is configured such that a superconductive conductor of the secondary winding can be wound around the winding body in a normal state such that the conductor rests against the casing portions and is received in the grooves. A gap can be formed between the conductor and each of the depressions.

Abstract: A conductor assembly and method for constructing an assembly of the type which, when conducting current, generates a magnetic field or which, in the presence of a changing magnetic field, induces a voltage. In one embodiment the method provides a first insulative layer tubular in shape and including a surface along which a conductor segment may be positioned. A channel formed in the surface of the insulative layer defines a first conductor path and includes a surface of first contour in cross section along a first plane transverse to the conductor path. A segment of conductor having a surface of second contour in cross section is positioned at least partly in the channel and extends along the conductor path. Along the first plane, contact between the conductor surface of second contour and the channel surface of first contour includes at least two separate regions of contact.

Abstract: A surface-mount inductor having a molded body which includes a coil formed by winding a rectangular wire and sealed by sealant having resin and filler, a surface of the molded body being a mounting face, the coil includes: first rolls wound in two-roll arrangement along the winding axis, the ends of the wire being placed at the outermost turn; and second rolls wound in positions adjacent to the first rolls and oppositely shifted along the winding axis, the inner diameter being equal to or larger than the outer diameter of the first rolls, the ends of the wire are brought out from the outermost turn of the second rolls as lead ends which are sealed in a manner that the winding axis is parallel with the mounting face and the lead ends are partially exposed at the mounting face, as well as a method for manufacturing the same.

Abstract: A coil for a magnet includes a superconductor comprising a Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+δ (Bi-2212) high temperature superconductor (HTS) filament. The HTS filament can be encased in a protective conducting sheath. The superconductor is wound to form a coil. A reinforcement winding is wound with the superconductor. The reinforcement winding can be a wire, a tape, a band, and an outer layer encasing the superconductor filament. A method of making a coil for a magnet, a composite superconductor for a magnet, and a magnet are also disclosed.
