摘要: The invention relates to a telecommunication system comprising a plurality of mutually coupled switching centers and at least one coupled control unit. When switching centers assign paths based on switching data stored in switching tables, switchings take place first between the coupled switching centers which have each their own switching tables containing LCR data. The respective switching center recognizes only the beginning and end of the path in the case of an incoming call, so that the call may be permanently switched to and fro between two switching centers leading to an endless loop in the case of a current overload or interruption of the path from the switching table. For realizing an improved switching environment while system features are taken into account, the control unit is provided for forming at least one connection tree which comprises as branches loop-free connections from one switching center and running to other switching centers of the telecommunication system and for converting the connection tree into a switching tree by determining pairs of switching centers in the branches and by erasing at least one branch that contains the respective pair in reverse order. This reduction creates loop-free switching trees from the connection trees, because an endless loop between two nodes is avoided with the switching operation. The respective branches correspond to the possible loop-free connections in the network. Since a switching tree is formed for each switching center, groups of loop-free connections for the whole telecommunication system evolve in this manner.

摘要: A telephone station set is arranged to automatically prefix calls with the access code of a particular, preselected IXC. In one embodiment, the telephone station set is arranged to have at least one locking button that corresponds to an IXC and whenever the locking button is in the selected state, any calls originated from that telephone station set are automatically prefixed with the access code of the IXC to which the button corresponds. Whenever there aren't any IXC buttons selected, only those digits corresponding to the buttons dialed by the calling party are transmitted to the LEC. In another embodiment, the telephone station set incorporates a slide switch having IXC positions and a "No IXC" position. Positioning the slide switch at an IXC position causes calls dialed from the telephone station set to be prefixed by the IXC access code of the corresponding IXC while positioning the slide switch at the "No IXC" position causes only those digits corresponding to the buttons dialed by the calling party to be transmitted to the LEC. In yet another embodiment of the invention, a particular IXC, or "No IXC" is selected from a menu provided by the telephone station set. If an IXC is selected from the menu, calls dialed from the telephone station set are prefixed by the selected IXC's access code. If "No IXC" is selected from the menu, the telephone station set transmits to the LEC only those digits corresponding to the buttons dialed by the calling party.

摘要: A method and system for updating a database stores billing rate parameters for call rating devices associated with a calling station. The calling station calls at a predetermined date and time a rate provider, which includes billing rate parameters for a plurality of calling stations. The call rating device transmits over the telephone network to the rate provider the phone number of the calling station, and the date and time of the last updated database. The rate provider verifies that the billing rate parameters of the calling station should be updated, then transmits back over the telephone network to the calling station the updated database. The rate provider also sends data as to the new date and time for the call rating device to place a call to the rate provider.

摘要: The present invention describes an automatic voice messaging system for use in a telephone network having a calling station connectible to a first switch and a called station connectible to a second switch, with the first and second switches connected by a digital serial link. The voice messaging system preferably comprises an interface, a detection circuit, a speech circuit and a control circuit. The interface monitors signals on the digital serial link. The detection circuitry is connected to the interface for detecting busy or ring/no answer conditions at the called station upon call initiation to the called station from the calling station, and for detecting receipt of a predetermined code from the calling station indicating that the caller desires to leave a message for the called station. The speech circuit is also connected to the interface for issuing a predetermined prompt to a user of the calling station. The control circuit is connected to the detection circuit and the speech circuit for controlling the speech circuit to issue one of the predetermined prompts to the calling station upon detection of a busy or ring/no answer condition by the detection circuit, and for thereafter connecting the calling station to a host computer upon detection of the predetermined code by the detection circuit to enable the user to record at the host computer a message for the called station.

摘要: The standard exchange message interface (EMI) message record generated for interexchange telephone toll calls is enhanced via the addition of a primary interexchange carrier (PIC) indicator, whose value provides an indication as to whether a terminating subscriber has a particular interexchange carrier as his/her PIC. The PIC indicator may be used by the interexchange carrier when bills are rendered for its subscribers--for example, to provide different billing treatment for calls that were made over that carrier's network to terminating subscribers whose PIC is, in fact, that very carrier, as opposed to calls that were made to subscribers with a different PIC.

摘要: A line interface unit for controlling receipt and delivery of voice messages over a telephone system having a voice message facility connectable to at least one calling station and a called station via a central office. The interface unit comprises a first switch connected to the calling station in the tip and ring lines and a second switch connected to the central office in the tip and ring lines, the switches having first and second positions and wherein said signals on the tip and ring lines are connected directly between the calling station and the central office when each of the switches is in the first position. In operation, a control circuit of the line interface unit responds to detection of a busy/no answer condition at the called station for switching the first switch from its first to second position to connect a speech circuit to the calling station for issuing a prompt. After the prompt is issued, the control circuit responds to receipt of a DTMF signal or additional coinage from the calling station for switching the second switch from first to second position to connect a speed-dial circuit to the central office for dialing the voice message facility. The control unit then responds to receipt of a DTMF signal from the voice message facility for switching the first and second switches from their second positions back to their first positions to connect the calling station to the voice message facility.

摘要: Systems, methods, and software for performing online charging in next generation networks. In one embodiment, a Session Management Function (SMF) of a next generation network implements a Charging Trigger Function (CTF) that directly interfaces with an Online Charging System (OCS). The CTF transmits a charging request to the OCS requesting a quota of service units for the SMF, and receives a charging response from the OCS indicating the quota of service units granted to the SMF by the OCS. The CTF then manages the quota by allocating slices of the quota to User Plane Functions (UPF) implemented in a user plane of the next generation network.
