    摘要: A rotary cutting tool, having a longitudinal axis, includes a forward cutting portion and a rearward shank portion. The cutting portion includes a peripheral surface that has a plurality of flutes recessed therein. The plurality of flutes extend helically along the longitudinal axis and form a plurality of cutting teeth. Each cutting tooth includes a cutting edge at a rotationally leading edge thereof and a chip-splitting arrangement located at the cutting edge. Each chip-splitting arrangement includes two grooves. The two grooves interrupt the cutting edge and diverge, relative to each other, therefrom in the peripheral surface on opposite sides of an associated plane that is oriented perpendicularly to the longitudinal axis.

The first section is configured to elastically bend, extends between the inner sub-portion and the cutting portion, and comprises a face adjacent the second section. When the biasing sub-portion is moved due to biasing of the biasing member against the biasing surface, the first section is configured to bend and thereby change position of the cutting portion extending therefrom and allow fine-tuning thereof.

    摘要: An adjustable insert cutting angle cutting tool comprising a tool holder having a cartridge receiving pocket, an insert cartridge clamped the cartridge receiving pocket by a clamping member, and a cutting insert removably retained in the insert cartridge. The clamping member is operated by a separate fastening member. The cutting insert has at least one operative cutting portion, and the insert cartridge is oriented in a cartridge receiving pocket of the tool holder so that the operative cutting portion encounters a workpiece at an insert cutting angle. The clamping member has a clamping surface with at least one clamping zone, and the same at least one clamping zone makes contact with a non-planar clamped surface of the insert cartridge for different values of insert cutting angle. The insert cutting angle is increased or decreased by reorienting the insert cartridge in the tool holder, following release of the fastening member.

A corner cutting edge is formed at the intersection of the upper surface with each of the four corner surfaces. The lower surface includes a base surface from which a central boss and exactly four engagement ridges protrude. Each engagement ridge extends from the central boss to intersect with one of the four corner surfaces, and the base surface is divided into four base sub-surfaces. The insert may be clamped against a seating surface of a tool holder pocket solely by the engagement ridge located closest to the operative corner cutting edge making contact with a corresponding single engagement groove, and the two of the four base sub-surfaces making contact with two coplanar raised support surfaces.

The cutting insert has a longitudinal first axis and a lateral second axis, with two opposite cutting portions and a clamping portion therebetween, arranged along the first axis. The insert pocket includes a forward clamping portion with a forward abutment surface, and a rear clamping portion with first and second rear abutment surfaces. Two side flanks of the cutting insert extend longitudinally oppositely, with first and second clamping surfaces located adjacent each side flank. The first and second clamping surfaces adjacent one side flank abut the first and second rear abutment surfaces, respectively. The first clamping surface adjacent the other side flank abuts the forward abutment surface. Neither of the side flanks abuts the tool holder.
