    Abstract: A snugging connection and method for moving a movable structural member into closer contact with a stationary structural member in which a connector for joining the two structural members is formed with a snugging member which is activated by driving a fastener through an elongated opening in the connector; snagging an end of the snugging member; causing the snugging member to pivotally rotate and move the connector in a direction generally in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the elongated opening. The two structural members are thus brought closer to each other and may cause the connector to be in tension.

    Abstract: A jointing connector made from a sheet metal blank for connecting two to four wood members such as 2.times.4's. The connector includes a palm portion, and a finger portion with six distinct finger members. Each finger may be bent in the field by workmen to accommodate the particular jointing of the wood members. Preferably, the connector is bent in a U-shape at the factory. Three types of nail openings are provided including circular, slotted and directional slotted tab openings. The different types of openings with the configuration of the connector enable workmen to use the same connector in nearly a universal application to all types of jointing configurations. Further, the use of the special nail openings and the connector permit many of the nails to be used in double shear applications so that the connection value is doubled.

    Abstract: A one-piece moment frame connector is formed from a single piece of structural steel such as an I-beam or standard structural W-shape beam. Initially, a section, or blank, may be cut from a beam. The blank may be severed transverse to the length of the beam, so that the blank includes first and second flanges connected by a web. The web may be cut in the middle to form a pair of one-piece moment frame connectors, each having a vertical plate and a horizontal plate. The pair of moment frame connectors may be used in a single moment frame connection, one connector at the top and the other connector at the bottom. This ensures that the two connectors have the same internal composition and as such, the same response to lateral loads.

    Abstract: A method for installing fastener in a base material. The fastener has a shank having a first end and a second end defining a length, a head provided at the second end, and a thread provided on the shank which includes a leading edge and a trailing edge adapted remove portions of the base material when inserted into the base material. The method includes forming a hole having a diameter which is a nominal shank diameter of the fastener to be installed in the base material. The hole is then filled with an adhesive having a viscosity of 350 cP or less. Finally, the fastener is rotated into the hole such that the adhesive is forced into portions of the base material adjacent to the shank and thread when the thread is fully inserted into the hole.

    Abstract: An embed facade attachment system comprises an inner channel and an outer channel. The inner channel is configured to receive one or more fasteners between an upper retaining flange and a lower retaining flange. The outer channel is defined between an upper outward flange and a lower outward flange and configured to receive one or more fasteners. One of the inner channel and the outer channel is coupled to a concrete reinforcement element and another of the inner channel and the outer channel is removably coupled to a facade element by the one or more fasteners. The facade attachment is embedded in concrete with at least the inner channel or the outer channel exposed to a surface of the concrete to allow coupling of the facade element.
