    Abstract: A molded plastic panel for covering an exterior building wall includes a laterally directed lead fin, a laterally extending groove below the lead fin, and a rearwardly directed middle wall between rows of simulated shingles, all for joining laterally adjacent panels. A side flange extending outwardly of the panel may also be included. The molded plastic panel preferably also includes at least one row of simulated shingles separated by a plurality of gaps each having a randomly varying width in order to camouflage spacings between adjacent panels that change because of thermal contraction and expansion. In a particularly preferred embodiment, the panel body includes a locking tab and a folding flange. The folding flange includes a locking lip for engaging a locking tab on an adjacent panel and a flexible hinge connecting the locking lip to the panel body. The flexible hinge allows the folding flange to be disconnected from the locking tab when replacing a single panel.

    Abstract: The aluminum alloy product of an embodiment of the present invention includes a pair of outer regions and an inner region positioned between the outer regions. A first concentration of eutectic forming alloying elements in the inner region is less than a second concentration of eutectic forming alloying elements in each of the outer regions. Further, the aluminum alloy product has a delta r value of 0 to 0.10. The delta r value is calculated as follows: Absolute Value [(r_L+r_LT−2*r_45)/2] and the r_L is an r value in a longitudinal direction of the aluminum alloy product, the r_LT is an r value in a transverse direction of the aluminum alloy product, and the r_45 is an r value in a 45 degree direction of the aluminum alloy product.

    Abstract: In one embodiment, a brazing sheet comprises: a core layer, a braze liner on the first side of the core layer; and a waterside liner on the second side of the core layer. The core layer is comprised of a 3xxx series aluminum alloy. The waterside liner is an aluminum alloy comprising: 7-20 wt % Zn; up to 0.25 wt % Si; up to 0.1 wt % Cu; up to 0.25 wt % Mn; up to 0.1 wt % Mg; and up to 0.1 wt % Cr. In some embodiments, the brazing sheet has a thickness of 60-180 microns. In some embodiments, the waterside liner comprises 1-15% of the thickness of the brazing sheet.

    Abstract: The present application discloses wrought 2xxx Al—Li alloy products that are work insensitive. The wrought aluminum alloy products generally include from about 2.75 wt. % to about 5.0 wt. % Cu, from about 0.2 wt. % to about 0.8 wt. % Mg, where the ratio of copper-to-magnesium ratio (Cu/Mg) in the aluminum alloy is in the range of from about 6.1 to about 17, from about 0.1 wt. % to 1.10 wt. % Li, from about 0.3 wt. % to about 2.0 wt. % Ag, from 0.50 wt. % to about 1.5 wt. % Zn, up to about 1.0 wt. % Mn, the balance being aluminum, optional incidental elements, and impurities. The wrought aluminum alloy products may realize a low strength differential and in a short aging time due to their work insensitive nature.

    Abstract: An apparatus and method for fastening dissimilar metals like steel and aluminum utilizes a steel rivet and a spot welding machine. The rivet and metals are stacked and the heat from the welder's electric current softens the lower melting point aluminum allowing the rivet to penetrate the aluminum and weld to the steel layer. The fastener may be used to join stacks with several layers of different materials and may be used to apply a threaded socket or stud made from steel or titanium to an aluminum or magnesium alloy structure. Layers of non-conductive materials like plastic and ceramics may also be affixed to a conductive layer using the fastener made from a compatible material that extends through a pilot hole.
