Abstract:
A method is provided for handling of short message service (SMS) messages for a mobile station (MS) (10) served by a wireless telecommunications network. The method includes: receiving an SMS message at the MS (10), the SMS message being a text message; alerting a user of the MS (10) that the SMS message has been received; receiving an indication that the user desires to audibly retrieve the SMS message; converting the SMS message from a text message to a corresponding verbal message; and, playing the verbal message.
Abstract:
A mobile communication device of an apparatus in one example sends a plurality of rate queries to a plurality of service providers. Based on one or more rate quotes received from one or more of the plurality of service providers in response to one or more of the plurality of rate queries, the mobile communication device selects one of the plurality of service providers to handle a communication session.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the method and system provide for providing network support for an attribute feature for customization of mobile terminals by a telecommunication network. The method in this embodiment may have the steps of: storing in the telecommunication network at least one attribute for use by at least one mobile terminal; sending at least one attribute request from the mobile terminal to the telecommunication network; recognizing, by the telecommunication network, the attribute request from the mobile terminal; downloading, by the telecommunication network, the requested attribute to the mobile terminal; and installing the attribute in the mobile terminal. The system implements the method.
Abstract:
One embodiment of the present method is for a method that provides packet data throughput information on a per user basis for at least one mobile terminal of a plurality of mobile terminals operatively connected to a communication network. In this embodiment the method may have the steps of: collecting, by the telecommunication network, usage data associated with packet data calls for the respective mobile terminal and forming data throughput information from the usage data; storing, by the telecommunication network, the data throughput information in a storage; and sending, from the communication network to the respective mobile terminal, the data throughput information. The system implements the method.
Abstract:
A communications network answers a call directed to user equipment that is already engaged in a call. A call holding indication is transmitted to the user equipment of the subscriber. The subscriber may indicate a call treatment preference. A default or customized message may be transmitted to the second caller. Caller identification information and/or a subscriber response may be used to select the message. If the second caller elects to be placed on hold, the second call is placed on hold. The call holding indication may be transmitted before or after the call is placed on hold. The subscriber may use information included in the call holding indication in determining the call treatment preference. For example, a parent may select a custom message, based on caller identification information received in the call holding indication, asking a child of the parent to wait while the first call is completed.
Abstract:
A method of automatically suggesting service changes for a wireless communications network subscriber is provided. The method includes compiling a record of services used by the subscriber during a time period, determining one or more subscriber usage metrics, comparing the subscriber usage metrics to one or more thresholds, detecting a trigger condition including one or more of the usage metrics exceeding one or more of the thresholds, generating a service change suggestion, and informing the subscriber automatically of the suggested service change using the wireless communications network.
Abstract:
The method and system is for providing hands free system for operating a mobile terminal in a vehicle. An embodiment of the system may have: a processing module detachably coupled to a mobile terminal; an audio input device mounted substantially in a center area of a steering wheel of the vehicle, the audio input device operatively connected to the processing module; a switch located in a predetermined area of the steering wheel, the switch operatively connected to the processing unit; and an audio output system operatively connected to the processing module. The method implements use of the system.
Abstract:
Calls are screened on the basis of a priority assigned to the calling party and a current cost (monetary or opportunity) to a communications service subscriber. For example, a calling line identification or a PIN is used to identify the calling party and to find a priority level assigned to the calling party by the subscriber. An applicable billing category is determined (e.g., a night or weekend, peak, or mobile to mobile billing category). An unused amount of air time or message units in a basic allotment of message units or air time is determined. If, given the amount of remaining message units or the cost of message units, the priority level assigned to the calling party justifies call completion; the user equipment of the calling party is connected to the user equipment of the subscriber. Otherwise, the user equipment of the calling party is connected to a message service or call completion is denied.
Abstract:
In general terms the system and method is for providing network support for reconfiguration of mobile configuration data for a mobile station. In one embodiment the method may have the steps of: storing mobile configuration data for a mobile station in a mobile subscriber database in the mobile station; storing the mobile configuration data in a network subscriber database in the network; changing via a user interface the mobile configuration data in the network subscriber database; and synchronizing, in response to the changing of the mobile configuration data in the network subscriber database, the mobile configuration data in the mobile subscriber database with the mobile configuration data in the network subscriber database of the mobile station.
Abstract:
A method for collecting data to identify an RF dead zone in a cell of a wireless network using a mobile station is provided. The method includes: a) receiving position data from the mobile station at a base station when the mobile station is powered up and located within the cell, b) communicating the position data from the base station to a mobile switching center, and c) storing the position data in an RF dead zone network. In another embodiment, a method for collecting data to identify an RF dead zone in a wireless network using a mobile station is provided. The wireless network provides wireless service to a plurality of cells and includes a plurality of base stations corresponding to the cells. In still another embodiment, a method for collecting data to identify an RF dead zone in a wireless network using a plurality of mobile stations is provided.
