    Abstract: A weather strip formed from at least two materials having distinct physical properties and a corresponding glass run channel. In particular, the weather strip includes a base portion and two sidewalls located on opposite edges of the base portion. The base portion and sidewalls each include a strip of first material and joints between the base portion and the sidewalls each include a strip of second material more flexible than the first material. The weather strip further includes at least one projection and the glass run channel includes at least one opening for establishing a press fit engagement with the at least one projection. In addition to the first two materials, the weather strip may also be formed of an additional third material having a low friction index and located to come into direct contact with a windowpane. The weather strip is co-extruded out of the first and second material.

    Abstract: A latch travel mechanism for a closure panel of a vehicle, the mechanism comprising: a mounting plate for mounting a latch, the latch for retaining the closure panel in a closed position with respect to a body of the vehicle; a support plate coupled to the mounting plate, the support plate for connecting to a body of the vehicle; one or more linkages connected to the support plate at one end and connected to the mounting plate at another end, the one or more linkages providing said coupled to the mounting plate; a locking member mounted on the support plate and configured for retaining the mounting plate in a home position when coupled to the mounting plate and for decoupling from the mounting plate when operated; an actuation system coupled to the linkages for extending the linkages once the locking member is decoupled from the mounting plate, in order to move the mounting plate relative to the support plate from the home position to an extended position; wherein the latch is also moved from the home position to the extended position when mounted on the mounting plate.

    Abstract: A linear actuator assembly for a closure panel of a vehicle comprising: a linear actuator for mounting in an interior of a frame of the closure panel and having an extensible member for extending through an aperture in the frame, the extensible member configured for extension and retraction with respect to the interior along a linear axis of the linear actuator, the frame having the aperture on a shut face; a sealing member for positioning on the shut face adjacent to the extensible member for inhibiting foreign matter from entering the interior from an exterior of the frame, the sealing member inhibiting lateral movement of the extensible member with respect to the linear axis; and a linkage operationally first connecting at one end to the extensible member and for operationally second connecting at another end to a body of the vehicle adjacent to the closure panel, such that both the one end and the another end are located externally to the interior of the frame being both to one side of the aperture.

    Abstract: A power door actuation system for a vehicle door includes a power-operated presenter actuator mounted to one of the vehicle body and the vehicle door. The power-operated presenter actuator includes a motor and an extensible member being translatable between a retracted position and an extended position along a first axis in response to selective actuation of the motor. The motor has a motor shaft that extends along a second axis that is substantially parallel to the first axis along which the extensible member translates. Powered movement of the extensible member between its retracted and extended positions results in corresponding movement of the vehicle door between closed and presented positions.

    Abstract: A system and method for providing access to a vehicle is provided. The system includes a plurality of capacitive sensors circumferentially spaced from one another in a circular arrangement defining a plurality of sensor nodes for receiving a touch input from a user in the form of a touch or a swipe. A controller unit is coupled to the plurality of capacitive sensors and a power source and is in communication with a plurality of vehicle systems and a latch mechanism. The controller unit detects a plurality of changes in capacitance of the plurality of capacitive sensors due to the touch input and determines whether the plurality of changes in capacitance matches a gesture sequence within a predetermined amount of time. The controller unit controls the latch mechanism in response to the communication with vehicle systems and changes in capacitance matching the gesture sequence within the predetermined amount of time.

    Abstract: A latch assembly for providing travel of a closure panel of a vehicle away from a latch during a collision event, the latch assembly compromising: a mounting plate of the latch for mounting a set of latch components thereon including a ratchet coupled to a pawl for retaining and releasing a mating latch component with respect to a slot of the latch, the mating latch component mounted to the closure panel, the latch components further including a secondary catch, the mounting plate connected to a body of the vehicle; a support plate coupled to the mounting plate by a support connector, the support connector providing a sliding connection between the support plate and the mounting plate along an axis; a blocking member mounted to one of the support plate and the mounting plate, such that engagement of the blocking member limits relative displacement between the support plate and the mounting plate along the axis; an actuation system mounted on the support plate, the actuation system for moving by the travel the closure panel between a primary latched position and a secondary latched position during actuation of the actuation system; wherein disengagement of the blocking member subsequent to the actuation of the actuation system provides for the relative displacement between the support plate and the mounting plate along the axis opposite to the direction of the travel of the closure panel.

    Abstract: A system for waking an electronic control unit upon movement of a controlled member, such as a vehicle lift gate or window, and protecting the electronic control unit from motor back EMF are provided. The system includes a power drive unit coupled to the controlled member and to the electronic control unit for moving the controlled member. A comparator subsystem is coupled to the power drive unit and is configured to compare an electrical output of the power drive unit generated due to motor back electromotive force in response to a manual movement of the controlled member to an electrical reference to determine whether to wake the electronic control unit. The system detects manual movement of the controlled member, e.g. from unauthorized entry, and causes an alarm and/or for the motor to brake or to drive to counteract the manual movement of the controlled member.

    Abstract: A user interface system for controlling a vehicle operation including a printed circuit board (PCB) that has a front side and a back side. A top layer that is electrically conductive defines the front side of the PCB. A plurality of indicia are etched into the top layer. An applique overlies the front side of the PCB. At least one proximity sensor is integrated into the front side of the PCB for detecting user object adjacent to the associated indicia and outputting a corresponding detection signal. The PCB further includes a base layer under the top layer. The base layer is at least partially formed of an optically transparent material. At least one light emitting device is positioned on the back side of the PCB for illuminating the indicia. A controller unit is coupled to the at least one proximity sensor and the at least one light emitting device.
