Abstract: A vehicular exterior door handle assembly includes a base portion disposed at a handle region of a vehicle door, a handle, and an actuator. The actuator includes an electrically-operable motor, an output element mechanically coupled to the handle, and a variable drive element coupled to the output element. When the motor is operated, the actuator causes the drive element to move the output element and move the handle from a recessed position to a deployed position. When moving the handle from the recessed position, the drive element moves the output element at a first speed to move the handle. When the motor is operated to further move the handle, the drive element moves the output element at a second speed to more rapidly move the handle from a partially deployed position toward a deployed position.

Abstract: A vehicular window assembly includes a window panel having an inner surface and an outer surface, electrically conductive traces established at the inner surface of the window panel, a pair of busbars established at the inner surface and in electrical connection with respective portions of the electrically conductive traces, and an electrical connector affixed at each busbar and configured to electrically connect to a wire harness of a vehicle when the vehicular window assembly is installed at the vehicle. The electrical connector includes a bonding portion, a connecting terminal and a busbar-connecting portion. The connecting terminal is configured to electrically connect to the wire harness of the vehicle. The bonding portion is adhesively bonded at the window panel. The electrical connector is bonded at the window panel with the busbar-connecting portion electrically connected to the respective busbar without use of solder.

Abstract: A vehicular interior rearview mirror assembly includes a reflective element assembly portion that includes a mirror reflective element and at least one pivot element, which provides adjustability of the mirror reflective element when the reflective element assembly portion is mounted within an interior cabin of a vehicle. A cap portion is adapted to attach to the reflective element assembly portion. The cap portion includes at least one accessory. The at least one accessory includes an accessory module insertable at least partially into the cap portion. Insertion of the accessory module into the cap portion connects the accessory module to the cap portion both mechanically and electrically. The cap portion may encase a rear portion of the reflective element assembly portion, and a mounting member may extend from the pivot element and through an aperture of the cap portion for mounting the mirror assembly within the interior cabin of the vehicle.

Abstract: A method of manufacturing a variable reflectance mirror reflective element suitable for use in a vehicular rearview mirror assembly includes providing a front glass sheet and a plurality of rear glass substrates, and joining and spacing the rear glass substrates at the front glass sheet via perimeter seals. After the rear glass substrates are joined with the front glass sheet, the front glass sheet is cut to form a plurality of front glass substrates. A back plate is attached at the rear side of each of the rear glass substrates. After cutting the front glass sheet, the back plate of the respective rear glass substrate and cut front glass substrate portion is fixtured at a finishing tool, which processes the cut edges of at least the respective front glass substrate to provide a finished perimeter edge of the front glass substrate to form a variable reflectance mirror reflective element.

Abstract: A vehicular exterior door handle assembly includes a base portion configured to mount at an exterior door handle region of a vehicular door of a vehicle, a handle portion, and a sensing module that includes at least one light emitter and at least one light sensor. With the base portion of the vehicular exterior door handle assembly mounted at the exterior door handle region of the vehicular door, the light emitter, when energized, emits light. With the base portion mounted at the exterior door handle region of the vehicular door, and with the light emitter energized, the light sensor senses light emitted by the light emitter. Responsive to light sensed by the light sensor with the light emitter energized being below a threshold level, the sensing module determines a presence of a person's hand at the handle portion.

Abstract: A vehicular interior rearview mirror assembly includes a mirror mount and a mirror head having a mirror casing and a mirror reflective element. The mirror reflective element is an electrically variable reflectance mirror reflective element including (i) a front glass substrate, (ii) a rear glass substrate, and (iii) an electro-optic medium established between the front glass substrate and the rear glass substrate. First and second electrically conductive terminals each have (i) a proximal end that is electrically connected to a respective electrically conductive coating at the respective glass substrate and (ii) a distal end that extends rearward from the rear side of the mirror reflective element. The distal ends, when the mirror reflective element is attached at the mirror casing, are disposed at a connector that is integrated with the mirror casing. An electrically conductive wire of the vehicle connects to the connector of the mirror casing.

Abstract: A multi-camera vehicular video display system includes an interior rearview mirror assembly having a mirror head that includes a transflective mirror element and a video display screen disposed behind the transflective mirror element. The mirror assembly includes a mechanism that is operable to change orientation of the transflective mirror element relative to a driver of the vehicle. When the mechanism changes orientation to a second position that is tilted away from the eyes of the driver of the vehicle, the video display screen displays video images viewable through the transflective mirror element. When the mechanism changes orientation to a first position that is tilted towards the eyes of the driver of the vehicle, the video display screen does not display video images. The displayed video images are derived, at least in part, from image data captured by at least one exterior viewing camera of the vehicle.

Abstract: A vehicular exterior rearview mirror assembly includes a mirror reflective element, a mirror back plate, and a blind zone indication module having a light source that is electrically powered to emit light. When the light source of the blind zone indication module is electrically powered, light emitted by the light source passing through (i) a light-transmitting portion of a housing of the blind zone indication module and (ii) a light-transmitting aperture of the mirror back plate illuminates an icon that is viewable to a driver of the vehicle who views the mirror reflective element. Illumination of the icon is responsive to a blind spot detection system of the vehicle detecting presence of another vehicle that is traveling in the same direction and in a lane adjacent to a lane that the equipped vehicle is traveling in and that is approaching or is overtaking the equipped vehicle.

Abstract: An exterior rearview mirror assembly includes a mounting arm and a mirror head having a mirror casing, a mirror reflective element and an actuator. The mounting arm is received through an aperture in the mirror casing and the actuator is attached at the mounting arm inside the mirror casing. The actuator is electrically operable to adjust the mirror head relative to the mounting arm. The actuator attaches at the mounting arm and to the mirror casing. The actuator includes an actuator housing that houses first and second motors that drive respective first and second gears. When the first motor is electrically operated, the first gear causes pivoting of the mirror head about a vertical pivot axis, and when the second motor is electrically operated, the second gear causes pivoting of the mirror head about a horizontal pivot axis.

With the mounting portion of the exterior rearview mirror assembly attached at the exterior side portion of the vehicle, the electrically-operated actuator is electrically operable to move the mirror reflective element and the mirror casing together in tandem to vertically and horizontally adjust a field of view of a driver of the vehicle who is viewing the mirror reflective element.
