Abstract:
A web of multi-dose cleaning products and method of manufacturing the same is disclosed. The web includes a carrier sheet including first and second pluralities of depressions, a first plurality of pouches, and a second plurality of pouches. Each of the pouches is positioned in a respective depression in the carrier sheet. The first plurality of pouches contain a first cleaning composition, and the second plurality of pouches contain a second cleaning composition. A first end of the carrier sheet is folded over a second end of the carrier sheet so that each multi-dose cleaning product is defined by at least an overlapping pair of the first and second pouches and an overlapping pair of the first and second depressions.
Abstract:
A water-soluble film, comprising a first water-soluble film, wherein the first water soluble film disintegrates in water within less than about 24 hours and dissolves in water within less than about 48 hours as measured by the MSTM-205 at 20° C. The disclosure provides a water-soluble film comprising a first water-soluble film that disintegrates in water within less than 24 hours and dissolves in water within less than 48 hours as measured by MSTM-205 at 20° C. The first water-soluble film optionally may be further characterized in that it does not disintegrate in water for at least about 1 hour and does not dissolve in water for at least about 1 hour as measured by MSTM-205 at 20° C. The disclosure further provides a water-soluble film comprising a first water-soluble film characterized in that the degradation and/or dissolution of the first water-soluble film is adapted to be activated by consumer handling.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein are water-soluble films including a polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH) resin blend and optionally one or more additional components such as plasticizers, fillers, surfactants, and other additives. The PVOH resin blend includes a PVOH copolymer including one or more types of anionic monomer units such as a PVOH terpolymer and a PVOH polymer such as another PVOH anionic copolymer or a partially or completely hydrolyzed PVOH homopolymer. When the PVOH copolymer and PVOH polymer are blended in particular proportions and/or selected with regard to various criteria related to physical and chemical film properties, the resulting water-soluble film formed from the PVOH resin blend exhibits substantially improved aqueous dissolution properties, tensile strength properties, and/or tensile modulus properties.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein are capsules for delayed release of an ingredient contained therein, in particular water-soluble capsules for delayed release of water-sensitive, gas-generating compositions, other gas-forming compositions, or other cleaning compositions into an aqueous liquid medium. The delayed release capsules can incorporate one or more gas-relief pinholes for gas-generating water-sensitive or other gas-forming compositions contained in the capsules, such as inorganic bleach or other alkaline compositions intended for delayed release into a wash medium during a laundry cycle or perfumes. The pinholes permit gas generated or otherwise formed within the capsule, such as due to exposure to environmental water vapor, to escape from the capsule interior, preventing pressure build-up and capsule deformation during storage. The pinholes are sized to prevent or otherwise substantially limit the passage of liquids when submerged in a liquid medium (e.g., liquid water in an aqueous liquid medium). Related articles and methods for delivering the capsules in combination with a detergent or other laundry composition are also disclosed.
Abstract:
A stain removal device adapted to at least partially surround a stain located on a fabric to activate in a targeted manner includes a shell comprising a wall with an inner surface, an outer surface, a rim defining an aperture in the shell, the rim being defined by the inner and outer surfaces and the inner surface defining a shell cavity, at least one opening extending through the wall of the shell between the inner and outer surfaces of the shell, a dispensable cleaning agent at least partially disposed within the shell cavity, and an attachment portion at least partly coupled to the shell. The attachment portion is configured to removably couple the stain removal device to a fabric or article of clothing such that the rim of the shell contacts the fabric and at least partially surrounds a stain located on the fabric. So configured, the dispensable cleaning agent may activate in a targeted manner relative to the stain during a wash cycle.
Abstract:
A water-soluble film including a polyvinyl alcohol copolymer resin, a plasticizer, an anti-block filler, and a release modifier is disclosed herein. Also disclosed are related packets incorporating the film, and related methods of making and using the film and packets.
Abstract:
A web of cleaning products and a method of manufacturing the same is disclosed. The web includes a carrier sheet having a plurality of depressions each filled, and in direct contact with, at least one cleaning composition. A plurality of internal lids that correspond with the plurality of depressions are sealed to the carrier sheet in a manner covering the plurality of depressions. Additionally, a plurality of external lids that correspond with the plurality of internal lids are sealed to the carrier sheet and cover the plurality of internal lids. The carrier sheet and external lids may be made of a water-resistant material, and the internal lids may be made of a water-soluble material. In one embodiment, the internal lids may be omitted, and instead the depressions be filled with water-soluble pouches, each of which contains a respective dose of a cleaning composition.
Abstract:
A web of cleaning products and a method of manufacturing the same is disclosed. The web includes first and second carrier sheets and a plurality of pouches containing a cleaning composition. Each of the pouches is disposed in a respective depression formed in an upper surface of the first carrier sheet. A first internal atmosphere is enclosed within each of the pouches. The first carrier sheet is sealed to the second carrier sheet such that a second internal atmosphere exists between the second carrier sheet and the plurality of pouches. The second internal atmosphere has a greater absolute pressure than the first internal atmosphere so that the plurality of pouches and at least a portion of the cleaning composition in the plurality of pouches are compressed into the plurality of depressions in the first carrier sheet by the second internal atmosphere.
