Abstract:
Disclosed is a process for the recovery of a phytolipid composition from a vegetable oil by-product. The phytolipid composition produced comprises squalene, phytosterols, mixed tocopherols and tocotrieneols, and vegetable wax and is useful as an emollient. The phytochemical composition may be applied directly to the skin to provide emolliency. Alternatively, the phytolipid composition may be formulated in various aqueous or anhydrous cosmetic compositions such as creams, lotions, gels, ointments, lip balms, sticks, or pencils for treatment of the skin and lips. The phytolipid composition also may be incorporated into foods, beverages, and nutraceuticals to provide health benefits.
Abstract:
A system, apparatus, and method are directed to managing an alert to a subscriber based on a change of content at an RSS content source (RCS). A content collector identifies changes in content from various RCSs. In one embodiment, the RCS may notify the content collector of a change in content. In another embodiment, a crawler is used to identify an RCS with changed content based, in part, on a subscriber's request. Information about the RCS with changed content is provided to at least one of a plurality of matching engines using a load-balancing mechanism. Each of the matching engines manages a store that identifies subscribers that have requested an alert from a particular RCS. The matching engines further determine when the subscriber was last notified of a change in content from that RCS so that the subscriber is not notified multiple times of the same change.
Abstract:
A system, apparatus, and method are directed to managing customization of a subscription and/or an alert for an RSS feed over a network. An RSS Content Source (RCS) may provide feed templates that may be used to modify a subscription interface. The RCS may further provide additional feed templates that are useable to modify an RSS alert and/or the RSS content. Moreover, a RSS subscription service provider may also provide one or more feed templates. The feed templates may include co-branding information, advertisements, related RSS feeds, services related to the RCS's business, products available from the RCS, or the like. The feed templates may further change a look and feel of a subscription interface, and/or RSS alert to enhance subscriber loyalty, and improve business opportunities. In one embodiment, the feed templates include material that may change based, in part, on a subscriber's behavior.
Abstract:
A system, method, and apparatus are directed to managing a subscription to an RSS feed. A search component enables searching over a network for content associated with an RSS feed. In one embodiment, the search component receives a search query in the form of a structured query language (SQL), Boolean expression, or the like. The search component may search for content based on the search query and validate the RSS feed associated with the results from the search. A list of validated RSS feeds may be sent to the user. The user may then select from the list and subscribe to a validated RSS feed. In addition, the user may employ the search query as an RSS feed. Thus, the same search may be performed automatically and the results compared to the previous search results. If a change in the search results is detected, the user may be alerted.
Abstract:
A monitoring system in a medical facility provides an identification device to a patient and a data acquisition device to a health-care worker. The identification device wirelessly emits a first signal that identifies the patient and the data acquisition device emits a second signal. A determination is made in response to the first signal and the second signal, whether the health-care worker is absent from being near the patient. For example, absence of the health-care worker is determined when a data reader receives only the first signal. This system detects when a patient requiring continuous observation is not in the presence of a health-care worker. In that case, an alarm message is sent to supervisory personnel.
Abstract:
Systems, methods, and programs for adjusting an output orientation of multi-thickness media input marking data, determine a number of sheets of the multi-thickness media that is to be alternated within an output stack, and adjust the output orientation of at least one sheet of multi-thickness media to be output based on the determined number of sheets of the multi-thickness media to be alternated
Abstract:
A monitoring system in a medical facility provides identification devices to patients and a data acquisition device to health care workers. The data acquisition device receives a signal from the identification device which identifies the associated patient and measures an amount of time that the patient is being treated by the health care worker associated with the given data acquisition device. A data interrogator reads data from the data acquisition devices which identify associated health care worker the patients that were treated and the amount of time each treatment. The data read from the data acquisition devices can be used to prepare reports specifying the amount of treatment each patient received and the amount of treatment each health care worker provided.
Abstract:
Disclosed are novel colorant compounds which contain one or more ethylenically-unsaturated (vinyl), photopolymerizable radicals which may be copolymewrized (or cured) with ethylenically-unsaturated monomers to produce colored compositions such as colored acrylic coatings and polymers, e.g., coatings and polymers produced from acrylate and methacrylate esters, colored polystyrenes, and similar colored polymeric materials derived from other ethylenically-unsaturated monomers. The present invention also pertains to processes for the preparation of certain of the photopolymerizable colorant compounds.
Abstract:
A communications system includes tow high speed communication links formed by pairs of transformers at either end thereof. A phantom circuit formed by the pairs of transformers is used to distribute power to devices connected to the high speed links. In transmission part of a communication system, data is transmitted under the control of a continuously variable frequency clock. The transmission is on parallel data-strobe links, and the receive includes circuitry to identify on which parallel the data signal is preset. A method and circuitry is provided for transmitting and receiving dc balanced data strobe signals.
Abstract:
The invention includes systems and methods to extend security from enterprise networks to wide-area networks by allowing secure connectivity to the enterprise layer 2 network across a wide-area layer 3 network, such as the Internet
