Abstract: A card reader prevents a magnetic read head of the card reader from being able to read a magnetic strip of a card and forces the card reader to read card data from an embedded chip of the card instead of the magnetic strip. An electromagnetic noise interference signal is generated and is maintained within the card reader. The signal prevents a magnetic read head of the card reader and any skimmer present within the card reader from reading the magnetic strip of the card. In an embodiment, the signal is generated and maintained as long as the card reader is powered on. In an embodiment, the signal is generated when at least one sensor of the card reader detects a presence of the card proximate to a card slot of the card reader, within the card slot, or within the card reader adjacent to the magnetic read head.

Abstract: A seller of blockchain-based media of value for fiat currency is matched to a buyer of the blockchain-based media of value. Terms or conditions of a transaction are agreed to between the parties. A transaction identifier for the transaction is created and blockchain-based media of value of the seller is obtained from the seller's wallet. Instructions for a smart contract are created; the smart contract controls release of the blockchain-based media of value based on its terms. The buyer visits a Self-Service Terminal (SST) deposits fiat currency in an amount dictated by the terms and the SST verifies the deposit and notifies the smart contract. The instructions of the smart contract cause the crypto currency to be transferred to the seller's wallet. The deposited fiat currency can be withdrawn at an SST by the seller or credited automatically to a financial account associated with the seller.

Abstract: Video of customer faces during checkouts are captured in real time and analyzed to assign identifiers for expressions of the customers. Simultaneously, transaction data and events being raised for the checkouts are correlated based on time stamps with the expression identifiers. A collection of data captured for the correlated transaction data, events, and identifiers are processed by a machine-learning algorithm to identify clusters and/or patterns between the expression identifiers and specific transaction events. The clusters are mined and reported to a retailer for identifying points during the workflow for the checkouts, transaction interface components, transaction terminal settings, transaction terminal peripherals, etc. that are potentially causing negative customer reactions during the checkouts.

Abstract: A voice-initiated item search is received along with a current geolocation of a device from which the voice-initiated item search was initiated. The search is translated to text, and the text search and the current geolocation are submitted as a search to locate an enterprise within a configured distance of the current geolocation and to locate a specific location for an item within that enterprise. The enterprise and the specific location for the item are provided back to an operator of the device as search results in voice and/or text. The geolocation represents a location of a consumer and the results provide enterprise specific item-level detail and item-location information for the item within an enterprise location for the consumer to quickly navigate to the item.

Abstract: An interface is rendered on a user-operated device. A shopping list of items defined by a user is obtained through the interface. A store associated with the items is identified and a tax jurisdiction for the store. Each item of the list is checked in inventory at the store, a set of substitute items are identified for each item, and available promotions are identified for each item and each substitute item. A total price for the list of the items that includes taxes in the jurisdiction of the store and includes any promotion pricing is provided to the user through the interface. The user can interact with the list through the interface to evaluate scenarios where the original list and/or a modified list meets a budget defined by the user or select an automatically determined list that identifies a lowest priced substitute for each item until the budget is met.

Abstract: A cloud-based service creates and maintains custodial digital wallets for parties to value transfers. Each wallet funded by the corresponding party with cryptocurrency and/or a fiat currency. The cloud-based service provides value transfers between two parties having custodial wallets without any on-chain blockchain operations making such transfers nearly instantaneous. The cloud-based service also provides transfers between one party with a custodial wallet and another party without a custodial wallet by using a liquidity wallet and/or a liquidity account to perform the transfers nearly instantaneously and by initiating any needed blockchain operations on the blockchain to properly reflect any debit or redemption made from the liquidity wallet on the blockchain.

Abstract: A prescriptive data model for stores of a retailer is maintained. The data model comprises clusters of benchmarks and benchmark values for successful stores and unsuccessful stores. A machine-learning model (MLM) is trained on the data model to predict Key Performance Indicator (KPI) values. An interface is provided that permits an end user to override a given current benchmark value with a changed value. The changed value along with unchanged current benchmark values are provided as input to the MLM and the MLM produces as output a set of current predicted KPI values. The set of current predicted KPI is rendered within the interface to the end user as a predicted impact the changed value will have on a given store or a given department of the given store.
