Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for differential sensing (DS), difference-differential sensing (DDS), correlated double sampling (CDS), and/or programmable capacitor matching to reduce display panel sensing noise. An electronic device may include one or more processors and an electronic display. The one or more processors may generate image data and adjust the image data based at least in part on display sensing feedback. The electronic display may employ sensing circuitry that obtains the display sensing feedback at least in part by applying test data to a pixel of a column of an active area of the display and differentially senses an electrical value of the pixel in comparison to a reference signal from a different column. This reference signal may provide a common mode noise reference, which is removed by the differential sensing and thereby enhances a quality of the sensed electrical value of the pixel.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates generally to systems and methods that may reduce a reduction in visual artifacts related to hysteresis of a light emitting diode (LED) electronic display. In one example, an electronic device may include a controller. The controller is may provide a signal to a pixel of a display of the electronic device while at least a portion of the display is turned off. The signal may include a first current and a second current. The first current may be designed to increase an ambient temperature corresponding to the pixel. The second current may be generated as part of an active panel conditioning operation. By applying the first current and the second current, hysteresis settling times from the pixel may improve, therefore improving speeds of sensing and compensation operations of the electronic device.

Abstract: An electronic device includes processors that generate image data. The electronic device also includes an electronic display that displays the image data over a first frame duration by programming a first row of display pixels with the image data. The electronic display also displays the image data over the first frame duration by causing the first row of display pixels to emit light for an emission duration that is based at least in part on a first luminance of the image data. The electronic display further displays the image data over the first frame duration by resetting the first row of pixels before an end of the first frame duration.

Abstract: An electronic device that includes processing circuitry configured to generate a frame of image data that has a frame duration is provided. The electronic device includes a display that has a plurality of pixels. Each of the plurality of pixels displays image data from the frame of image data for a pixel emission period that is less than the frame duration. A first pixel of a column of pixels of the plurality of pixels begins displaying the image data from the frame of image data at a first time for a first duration. A second pixel of the column of pixels that is adjacent to the first pixel begins displaying the image data from the frame of image data at a second time for a second duration. The first and second durations are equal to the pixel emission period. The second time begins after the first duration of time.

Abstract: Methods and devices useful in discharging an aberrant charge on the VCOM of an electronic display and harvesting energy from the VCOM of the electronic display are provided. By way of example, a method may include supplying an activation signal to an active switching device of an electronic display. The active switching device is configured to discharge an aberrant charge on a common electrode of the electronic display. The method further includes discharging the aberrant charge by way of the active switching device. Discharging the aberrant charge comprises preventing a possible occurrence of image artifacts from becoming apparent on the electronic display.

Abstract: An electronic display includes an active area having an array of pixels. The electronic display also includes multiple data power rails coupled to the active area that supply power to the array of pixels. The electronic display further includes data driving circuitry coupled to the multiple data power rails that drive the array of pixels. The electronic display also includes a controller coupled to the data driving circuitry having a processor. The processor causes the array of pixels to emit light based on a display brightness value. The processor also causes a pixel of the array of pixels to emit light at a brightness of gray level 0 by dynamically adjusting a data power rail of the multiple data power rails.

Abstract: In order to reduce non-uniform luminance and/or chrominance, a display panel can determine, on a pixel-by-pixel basis in at least a row of pixels, a correction for voltage drops in the display panel. The voltage drop can be estimated based on a state of pixels in the display panel corresponding to at least a portion of a current frame of image data and at least a portion of a previous frame of image data. Moreover, based on the correction, the display plane can modify on the pixel-by-pixel basis in at least the row: a supply voltage applied to the display panel; a digital representation of the image data in the current frame that correspond to the pixels; and pixel drive signals corresponding to the image data in the current frame. Furthermore, the correction may be based on a predefined calibration constant and/or may be dynamically calculated.

Abstract: Systems and methods for improving display image quality on electronic displays are provided. One embodiment of an electronic display includes display pixels that share a common electrode. Each of the display pixels includes a first conductive path electrically coupled between a pixel electrode and a data line, in which the first conductive path only enables the data line to charge the pixel electrode; and a second conductive path electrically coupled between the pixel electrode and the data line in parallel with the first conductive path, in which the second conductive path enables the data line to discharge the pixel electrode such that discharge rate of the pixel electrode is approximately equal to charge rate of the pixel electrode. Additionally, the embodiment includes a touch pixel that detects occurrence and position of a touch on a screen of the electronic display using the first common electrode.
