摘要: Mechanisms are provided to maintain deduplication data in native file formats. Files, including entities such as volumes and databases, are analyzed to identify components suitable for deduplication. These components suitable for deduplication are delineated into chunks and identifiers are generated for each of the chunks. The identifiers are used to reference the chunks in deduplication dictionaries that provide locations indicating where deduplicated chunks are stored. The components in the files are replaced with file handles or stubs that applications can use to access deduplicated data. Applications can continue to perform operations on the files as though no deduplication has occurred.

摘要: An approach is provided for monitoring network environment changes. A plurality of events relating to activation of one or more network elements are tracked, wherein the events include movement of cables for the network element and activities corresponding to verification of connections over the cables. Event information relating to the events are stored. The event information includes status information of the verification of the connections. Access is provided to the stored event information for presentation via a portal.

摘要: A vehicle tracking device (101), method and/or system are provided. The device (101) includes a location interface (117), for receiving a location signal indicating a current location when operably connected to a GPS antenna; a sensor interface (109), for receiving sensor signals from sensors in the vehicle indicating a sensed status of the vehicle, when electrically or electronically connected to the sensors; and a processor (105). The processor (105) is configured to facilitate receiving, from the location interface, indications of a current location; determining, responsive to the location signal, a determined current location of the vehicle (127); receiving, from the sensor interface, a sensed status of the vehicle (129); recording a pre-defined event condition, when the pre-defined event condition occurs (131) responsive to the sensed status, in a vehicle history; and recording the determined current location in the vehicle history (133).

摘要: It is desirable to provide an improved system for describing the impact of a change in routing on the performance of wavelengths traversing the links in a optical communication network. It is also desirable that such a system be computationally simple. The present invention accomplishes these aims by providing a mechanism for the development of a set of metrics that describe the impact of different fiber types and lengths bearing a number of wavelengths, on one of the wavelengths propagated by a given input power. These metrics permit the prediction of a wavelength's behaviour by simple calculations. Accordingly, the need for full non-linear simulation is obviated, thereby improving the speed, efficiency and flexibility of optical layer routing algorithms.

The flexible appliance (120) is comprised of a planar body (121) having at least one electrical connector (122) extending from and orthogonally oriented relative to the planar body (121). In one aspect of the invention, the electrical connector (122) is four electrical connectors (122). There is at least one aperture (112) formed in the substrate (110) for allowing the first electronic interface (115) to be electrically interconnected to the associated second electronic interface (161). The flexible appliance (120) is positioned on the substrate (110) by automated means. Contacts pads (123, 124) on the resilient connector (122) are electrically connected to the second electronic interface (161) and the first electronic interface (115) by automated means such as soldering, thermo sonic bonding, or gap welding.
