摘要： A method and apparatus for providing automatic processing of an alarm related to a multicast service in a network are disclosed. For example, the method receives an alarm related to a multicast service, and retrieves multicast data, wherein said multicast data comprises one or more of: a source Internet Protocol (IP) address for a source, a group IP address, and Protocol Independent Multicast (PIM) data. The method retrieves interface information, wherein the interface information comprises one or more of: an interface IP address, a PIM mode, and a Designated Router (DR) IP address. The method retrieves a status of a neighbor of the source in accordance with the source IP address, and determines if a neighbor is established for the source IP address.

Inventoried information can be retrieved from an inventory system in response to a problem associated the dual stack network. It can be determined whether a mismatch exists between live customer address information associated with a customer edge router and the inventoried information. A notification can be generated in response to determining whether a mismatch exists. The notification includes information representing a cause of the problem and resolution of the problem.

摘要： A method and system for adaptive processing of alert messages exchanged between applications is disclosed. The system may include a diagnostic engine coupled to a plurality of applications. A plurality of application alert messages may be monitored to determine if the alerts exceed a predetermined threshold. If a threshold number of alert messages is exceeded, an interface status based on a diagnostic code for the interface may be determined. A query value for the interface may be adjusted. Based on the amount of the increase in the alert messages, different actions may be indicated. An administrator for the application interface or for equipment associated with the interface may be notified for servicing the equipment.

Networked users may be provided with selected advertisements to a targeted network access device during a specified broadcast event based on user preferences. The system includes a computing device coupled to at least one communications network and adapted for: receiving user preferences comprising desired advertising content, and specified network access device information for receiving and displaying the advertising thereon. The user preferences are stored in a database and matched to the user preferences with advertising content by at least one advertiser during the specified broadcast event. The advertisements that meet the user preferences are thereafter communicated over at least one communications network to at least one network access device specified in the user selected preferences.

For example, the method receives an alarm related to at least one virtual connection for a virtual private network (VPN) from a provider edge (PE) router, and determines whether the VPN has reached a first threshold for a maximum number of virtual connections or a second threshold for a pre-determined percentage of the maximum number of virtual connections. The method generates a new ticket or updating an existing ticket in response to the alarm if either the first threshold or the second threshold is reached.

The source system can provide a test video clip or test packetized data stream that is injected into a broadcast portion of a service provider's access network at a point similar where other broadcast content would be introduced. The measurement system can be coupled to network equipment downstream or to a capture device, which is coupled to network equipment downstream. Configurations allow for more than one source system, measurement system, or capture system to allow flexibility in implementation for a particular application. The test system can be used to detect a problem or other issue before a customer at a customer premises would experience degradation in quality of experience.
