Abstract:
A system and methods providing immediate peer-to-peer messaging between mobile devices in a wireless system. An invitation architecture is disclosed which enables the exchange of personal identification numbers (PINs) without requiring a user to directly access or provide his or her PIN. A messaging application encrypts its associated PIN before providing it to a messaging application on another mobile device through an existing communication application. An invitation process for exchanging encrypted PINs involves receiving an invitation containing a question, obtaining user input of an answer, and transmitting the answer back to the sender with an encrypted PIN. The sender confirms the received answer is correct and replies with its encrypted PIN.

The invitation architecture automatically manages the encryption, any requisite key exchanges, the composition of invitation and acceptance messages, and the decryption and storage of PINs.
Abstract:
Apparatus and methods for wireless systems provide a mechanism to enhance the communication capabilities of wireless users. In an embodiment, a system includes a wireless server communicatively operable with a set of mobile wireless clients, where the wireless server has a share agent configured to control dissemination of information from a database on a shared basis responsive to a determination of a privacy state of the information. In an embodiment, a mobile wireless device has an integrated management system operable with a controller. The management system is configured to manage the mobile wireless device operable as a multiple-mode wireless client to each wireless server of a set of wireless servers such that information may be shared among the mobile wireless device and the set of wireless servers.
Abstract:
A home screen user interface permits a user to select an application icon to trigger a quick preview of event data maintained by the associated application. The home screen presents a background and a predetermined number of application icons arranged on the home screen to enable viewing of a majority of the background. At least some of the application icons are operable to invoke respective user interfaces for event applications that manage respective data communication, voice communication and calendar events. Upon a user selecting an application icon corresponding to the respective event application, event data is displayed, preferably after a time delay, on a portion of the home screen.
Abstract:
A system is provided for allowing mobile stations to exchange identification information using a predetermined communication path for the purpose of obtaining identification information to use in establishing a different communication path for communicating.
Abstract:
A system and method for integrating voice and data operations into a single mobile device capable of simultaneously performing data and voice actions. The mobile device working in a network capable of exchanging both cell phone calls and data items to the mobile device. By wearing an earphone or an ear-bud device the user is capable of dealing with voice conversations while working with data centric information related to the current caller. By providing a data-centric device with voice capabilities there is a new range of features that allow incoming data events to trigger outgoing voice events.
Abstract:
A hand-held mobile electronic device that includes a controller, a display, a user input device, a storage, and a rigid case dimensioned to be held in a hand of a user, the case housing the controller, the display, the user input device and the storage. The controller is operative to: (i) maintain a list of pending event reminders that have been released for display; (ii) display on the display an event reminder window corresponding to one of the pending event reminders, the event reminder window including a first user selectable option to dismiss the event reminder corresponding thereto, and a second user selectable option to dismiss a plurality of the pending event reminders; (iii) if the first user selectable option is selected through the user input device, remove the displayed event reminder window from the display and display on the display a further event reminder window corresponding to a further one of the pending event reminders; and (iv) if the second user selectable option is selected through the user input device, remove the displayed event reminder window from the display and remove the plurality of pending event reminders from the list.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for enabling data messaging in a wireless communications system is provided in one embodiment. Wireless messaging is enabled by having a host service send enable messages to a mobile communications device. Once an enable message has been received at the mobile communications device, the generation of an event causes the mobile communications device to send a fetch message to the host service to retrieve messages.
Abstract:
A method and communications device is provided for determining a list of possible additional recipients to add to an electronic message that is composed by a user of the communications device for transmission to another communications device. Once the user indicates that there is an additional recipient for the distribution list of the electronic message, the device employs the method to create the list of possible additional recipients. The method may be implemented on a computer program product.
