Abstract:
The invention comprises anthraquinone compounds of the formula wherein R represents C1-C4 alkyl, and n is an integer from 1 to 3; S indicates that the ring is a cyclohexane nucleus. They may be obtained by reacting 1-amino-4-hydroxy-2-phenoxy anthraquinone or 1 - amino - 4 - hydroxy-anthraquinone - 2 - sulphonic acid or salt thereof with a cyclohexane methanol having in the molecule an etherified methanol substituent, in the presence of base. Examples are given for the production of compounds wherein R is CH3, C2H5, C3H7 or C4H9 and n is 1 and the CH2OR group is in the 2-, 3- or 4-position. They may be used for dyeing textile materials to give red shades.
