摘要:
A printing apparatus includes: a upstream roller pair arranged on the upstream side of a printing head with respect to a direction in which a sheet is conveyed; and a downstream roller pair arranged on the downstream side of the printing head with respect to the direction, wherein each of the upstream roller pair and the downstream roller pair includes a first roller and a second roller configured to hold the sheet therebetween. In both of the upstream roller pair and the downstream roller pair, a rotation shaft of the second roller is provided to be situated on the downstream side of a rotation shaft of the first roller with respect to the direction.

A both-side recording apparatus that enables both-side recording on continuous paper using a single recording head, without cutting the continuous paper at an intermediate position, is provided. Reduction in size and costs of the apparatus is achieved by eliminating a conveying path dedicated to both-side recording. The apparatus includes a paper-feeder that feeds continuous paper, a recording head that records an image on the continuous paper, a reversing unit that reverses the continuous paper such that a recording surface of the continuous paper facing the recording head is reversed, and a rewinding mechanism that rewinds the fed continuous paper to the paper-feeder. During both-side recording, recording is performed on the back side of the continuous paper by rewinding the continuous paper by the rewinding mechanism, setting the back side of the continuous paper to oppose the recording head by the reversing unit, and feeding the continuous paper from the paper-feeder.

A recording apparatus includes a recording head for performing recording on a sheet, a first rotating member, disposed at a side downstream from the recording head so as to contact a non-recorded surface of the sheet on which recording has been performed by the recording head, for supplying the sheet with a conveying force, and a second rotating member, including pointed teeth at its outer circumference, for conveying the sheet in cooperation with the first rotating member while distal ends of the teeth contact a recorded surface of the sheet. The radius of curvature of the tips of the teeth are equal to or less than 0.05 mm.

An ink remaining amount detecting device, and an ink jet recording apparatus having such a device, for detecting when a predetermined amount of ink remains in an ink supply passage of an ink jet apparatus. This device includes a diaphragm, supporting member for fixedly supporting a circumference of the diaphragm, at least two pawl members having respective first ends fixed to a position substantially equidistant from the diaphragm's center, and extending away from the diaphragm to respective second ends constituting respective pawls, which have respective pawl end and base portions, the pawl members being resiliently flexible toward the center of the diaphragm. A coil spring has a diameter larger than a distance outside of the pawl base portions, this coil spring extending around an outside of the pawl members, a ring has an internal diameter larger than a distance between the outside of the pawl end portions and smaller than a distance between the outside of the pawl base portions and larger than the coil spring's outer diameter, so that the spring is compressed between the supporting member and ring abutted to the pawl base portions. A pair of electric contacts are disposed so as to make electric connection as a consequence of the diaphragm's occupying a predetermined position.

A recording apparatus comprises a recording head moved in a predetermined direction relative to a recording medium; a shaft member extended in the predetermined direction for rotatably supporting a carriage on which the recording head is mounted and for guiding movement of the recording head in the predetermined direction; a support member extended in the predetermined direction for supporting the carriage in cooperation with the shaft member; and a changing mechanism a distance between the recording head and the recording medium by changing a height of the carriage, the height being measured from the supporting member. In the case that the recording medium is made of materials, for example, having a poor property in absorbing ink, the operator can adjust the distance between the recording head and the recording medium to be large enough by using the above mentioned mechanism so that the recording medium, which may have warped due to ink absorption, will not rub against the recording head.
