Rifamycin derivatives having the following structure of general formula I (both hydroquinone and corresponding quinone (C1-C4) forms): or its salts, hydrates or prodrugs thereof; wherein a preferred R1 comprises hydrogen or acetyl and a prefered R2 comprises hydrogen, methyl or other lower alkyls; wherein asterik (*) denotes the carbon bearing the chiral center, wherein absolute configuration is assigned as R or S. Methods of preparation of the aforementioned rifamycin derivatives are also described. The compounds exhibit antimicrobial activities, including activities against drug-resistant microorganisms.

The inventive compounds exhibit valuable antibiotic properties. Formulations having these compounds can be used in the control or prevention of infectious diseases in mammals, both humans and non-humans. In particular, the compounds exhibit a pronounced antibacterial activity, even against multiresistant strains of microbes.

A solution of a nicotine in an amount effective for its released vapors to satisfy the physiological needs for nicotine of the user, and volatile palatability enhancing agents in an amounts effective for their released vapors to impart a cigarette-like taste and aroma to the released vapor mixture are absorbed in the chip. The cigarette substitute is in custody in a case when not in use.

The present invention relates to a process for fabricating a carbon nanofiber (CNF)/Cu composite powder by an electroless Cu plating, whereby the surface of carbon nanofiber is plated with Cu by an electroless Cu plating. The process includes: a first step 100 of dispersing and hydrophilic-treating a powder; a second step 200 of catalyzing the treated powder in the first step 100; a third step 300 of accelerating the treated powder in the second step 200; a forth step 400 of carrying out an electroless Cu plating the treated powder in the third step 300; a fifth step 500 of drying the treated powder in the forth step 400, and a sixth step 600 of heat-treatment of the treated powder in the fifth step 500. The present invention has the effects of simplifying the process, so that a manufacturing cost is reduced.

The present invention relates to rifamycin 3-iminomethylenyl (—CH═N—) derivatives having antimicrobial activities, including activities against drug-resistant microorganisms. The claimed rifamycin derivative has a rifamycin moiety covalently linked to a linker through an iminomethylenyl (—CH═N—) group at the C-3 carbon of the rifamycin moiety and the linker is, in turn, covalently linked to a quinolone structure or its pharmacophore within the DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV inhibitor family. The inventive rifamycins are novel and exhibit activity against both rifampin and ciprofloxacin-resistant microorganisms.
