    Abstract: According to one embodiment, a display device includes a first substrate including a light-shielding layer and a conductive line having a first side surface and a second side surface on a side opposite to the first side surface, a second substrate opposed to the first substrate, a polymer dispersed liquid crystal layer held between the first substrate and the second substrate, and including a polymer and liquid crystal molecules, and a light-emitting element opposed to an end portion of at least one of the first substrate and the second substrate, wherein the first side surface is closer to the light-emitting element than the second side surface, and the light-shielding layer covers at least the first side surface of the conductive line.

    Abstract: According to one embodiment, a display device includes a display area including a liquid crystal layer disposed in a display area, the liquid crystal layer including a polymer and a liquid crystal molecule, wherein when a direction of light incident on the display area from a light source element is defined as an incident direction and a direction in which pixels are selected sequentially is defined as a scan direction, the incident direction is opposite to the scan direction, and a direction in which the polymer extends linearly crosses both the incident direction and the scan direction.

    Abstract: A display device includes a light source device including a light emission section which emits incident light, a light conversion section which receives the incident light and which converts the intensity of the incident light, and a white light conversion section which converts the light with the converted intensity to white light. With the light source device light emitted from the light conversion section is converted to white light by the white light conversion section. As a result, white light in which chromaticity deviation is reduced is used as a light source. With a display device in which white light is used as backlight light, image quality degradation is reduced.

    Abstract: According to an aspect, a display device includes: a first substrate; a second substrate facing the first substrate; a liquid crystal layer disposed between the first substrate and the second substrate; a light source disposed so that light is incident on a side surface of the first substrate or a side surface of the second substrate; a first electrode provided on the first substrate; and second electrodes provided on the second substrate. The liquid crystal layer includes polymer-dispersed liquid crystals including a polymer network formed in a mesh shape and liquid crystal molecules held in a dispersed manner in gaps of the polymer network. A plurality of first slits of the second electrodes that are provided for each pixel are arranged at predetermined intervals in a first direction, and the first slits extend in a second direction intersecting the first direction.
