    摘要: A composition of matter comprising anionic clay having the general formula [M2+1-xM3+x(OH)2]x+(x/n)An−·yH2O  (I) or [M1+M3+2(OH)6]1+(1/n)An−·yH2O;  (II) where M1+ is a mono-valent metal; M2+ is a divalent metal; and M3+ is a trivalent metal; A is an inorganic or organic anion, chosen such that the rule of charge neutrality is obeyed; n is an integer; x is any rational number between 0 and 1; and y is any rational number between 0 and 10; where the anionic clay is in the form of particles having a volume weighted mean particle size diameter of less than 500 nm. Stable colloidal dispersions comprise such anionic clay particles having a volume weighted mean particle size diameter of less than 500 nm dispersed in a liquid medium. Method for preparing such stable colloidal dispersion of anionic clay particles comprises simultaneously bringing together salt solutions of M2+ and M3+ metals, or of M1+ and M3+ metals, and a base in a high shear mixing zone within a liquid dispersion medium in a particle precipitation vessel, and precipitating anionic clay particles having a volume weighted mean particle size diameter of less than 500 nm.

    摘要: In accordance with one embodiment of the invention, a photographic element is described comprising a support bearing one or more hydrophilic colloid layers including at least one photographic silver halide emulsion layer, wherein sequestered silver ions are incorporated into at least one hydrophilic colloid layer in the form of a silver ion containing material which sequesters silver ions prior to photographic processing and releases silver ions upon exposure to photographic processing solutions. Method for preparing and processing such photographic element are also described. In accordance with particular embodiments of the invention, the silver ion containing material comprises a silver ion-exchanged zeolite material or an intercalation composition comprising a layered host material having silver ions inserted as guest ions between the layers of the host material. The invention provides novel photographic materials and a method of incorporating silver ions directly into a photographic imaging element with improved stability and keeping response. The incorporation of silver ion containing materials into a photographic element in accordance with the invention enables increased upper scale density without excessive build-up of fog in the system.

    摘要: Disclosed is a color silver halide photographic element comprising a support bearing: (1) a light sensitive silver halide emulsion layer; (2) a nitrogen heterocycle with a minimum of three heteroatoms that does not react with oxidized developer, does not contain free thiol substituents, and has a C log P sufficient to increase the photographic speed of said element compared to the same element without the compound, said heterocycle compound located either in said light sensitive layer or in a layer adjacent to it; and (3) an ETARC, in or adjacent to said light sensitive silver halide emulsion layer, that releases, upon reaction with oxidized developer, an electron transfer agent having a C log P of at least 2.40. The invention provides improved light sensitivity.
