摘要: A magnetic toner includes a magnetic toner particle containing a binding resin and a magnetic material. The magnetic material includes a magnetic iron oxide containing 0.10% to 4.00% by weight of an element &agr; belonging to the third period to the seventh period with an atomic number of 11 to 103 and having an electronegativity of 1.0 to 2.5. The solubility S1 of &agr; in the magnetic material at an iron solubility of 0% to 20% is from 10% to less than 44% and the solubility S2 of &agr; at an iron solubility of 80% to 100% is from 5% to less than 30%. The magnetic material contains at least 60% by number of multinuclear magnetic iron oxide particles or at least 60% by number of polyhedral magnetic iron oxide particles having faces at ridgeline portions of hexahedron and/or octahedron multinuclear magnetic iron oxide particles.

摘要: A friction material suitable for mating with a disk rotor or drum consisting mainly of an aluminum alloy reinforced by a hard material. The friction material suppresses the generation of a scoring on the disk rotor or drum. It also suppresses the change in the coefficient of friction before and after a heat history. The friction material comprises not only an organic-fiber base material, a binder resin, a friction-adjusting agent, a filler, and an inorganic powder, but also an inorganic fiber and a metal powder having a particle diameter of 1 to 180 &mgr;m.

摘要: A method of forming a disk brake pad having a friction member composed of a bonding layer having a low porosity and a matrix layer having a high porosity and laminated on the bonding layer. The method does not require a pre-forming step. A material formed by pelletizing a mixture of components for the friction member and a non-pelletized material are fed one after the other into a cavity defined by a mold and a back plate. Also, since the pelletized material is compacted beforehand, the bonding layer formed from the pelletized material exhibits a sufficiently low porosity, so that the bonding layer can prevent moisture from infiltrating therethrough. Thus, the back plate is less likely to develop rust. Also, the bonding strength between the back plate and the bonding layer is improved. Further, since pelletized material forming the bonding layer penetrates into the matrix layer in a complicated manner, the bond strength between the bonding layer and the matrix is also improved.

摘要: A toner is provided that exhibits a satisfactory heat-resistant storability and an excellent low-temperature fixability. The toner has toner particles each of which contains at least a binder resin and a wax, and is characterized in that this toner is obtained by attaching a metal compound to the surface of the toner particle and thereafter performing a surface treatment with a hot air current; the binder resin contains at least a polyester resin; and the metal compound is formed by coordinating or bonding a specific aromatic oxycarboxylic acid to a metal.

摘要: An object of the present invention is to improve resistance to wraparound during fixing while achieving both low-temperature fixability and resistance to hot offset. A further object is to suppress image density variations and fogging in white background regions during use at high print coverage rate at high temperature and high humidity. A toner containing inorganic fine particles and toner particles containing a binder resin and a wax being provided, the toner being characterized in that the binder resin contains a polyester resin A obtained by condensation polymerization of a polyvalent carboxylic acid and an alcohol component mainly containing an aromatic diol and a polyester resin B obtained by condensation polymerization of a polyvalent carboxylic acid and an alcohol component mainly containing an aliphatic diol, and in that the degree of segregation of the wax in the toner depth direction from the toner surface toward the toner center is controlled.

(1) where I represents the surface tension index (N/m) of the toner, Pα represents a capillary pressure (N/m2) of the toner for the 45-vol % aqueous solution of methanol, A represents a specific surface area (m2/g) of the toner, and B represents a true density (g/cm3) of the toner.
