A convergence position modifying unit modifies convergence states of a first beam and a second beam according to layers of an optical recording medium, a first optical detector includes a first light receiving section which receives the converged first beam and a second light receiving section which receives the converged second beam, and the first optical detector detects a relative inclination angle between an end face of a solid immersion lens and a surface of the optical recording medium based on a difference in quantities of received light between the first light receiving section and the second light receiving section.

    摘要: An optical information medium measurement method measures a degree of modulation in an optical information medium of a multilayered structure having a plurality of information layers. The method includes measuring the modulation degree of each layer of the optical information medium, obtaining a thickness between layers of the optical information medium, obtaining a reflectance of each layer of the optical information medium, and converting the modulation degree of each layer. The modulation degree is measured based on a value indicative of the thickness between layers, and a value indicative of the reflectance of each layer.

    摘要: To provide an optical head to produce good servo and read signals by reducing the influence of interference by light reflected from a non-read layer of a multilayer optical disc.The head includes: a first optical system for converging light from a light source on a first or second storage layer; a second optical system for receiving and transmitting light reflected from the first layer and stray light reflected from the second layer when the light is converged on the first layer; a photodetector; and a calculator. The photosensitive areas of the photodetector output signals representing intensities of the light incident there through the second system. The reflected and stray light incident on the second system interfere with each other, and the first and second groups of areas are arranged so as to be equally affected by a variation in intensity caused by the interference. The calculator calculates the difference between sum of a first group of signals supplied from a first group of areas and that of a second group of signals supplied from a second group of areas, thereby generating a focus error signal.

    摘要: An objective lens unit according to the present invention includes a first objective lens 41; and a first lens holder 2 for supporting the first objective lens 41. The first lens holder 2 is formed of a material which transmits ultraviolet. Preferably, the first lens holder 2 includes a through-hole, having first and second openings 2a and 2b, through which light incident on the first objective lens 41 passes, and an opening limiting section 3 provided along a circumferential direction of the through-hole and projecting toward a central axis of the through-hole. The first objective lens 41 is supported so as to block the first opening 2b. The opening limiting section 3 guides light incident thereon from the second opening 2a in a direction away from an optical axis of the first objective lens.
