摘要: Under a normal condition, brake fluid pressure generated by a slave cylinder (23) that operates according to operation of a brake pedal (12) is fed to a wheel cylinder (16, 17; 20, 21) to perform braking, while under a fault condition of the slave cylinder (23), brake fluid pressure generated by a master cylinder (11) for backup that operates by the operation of the brake pedal (12) is fed to the wheel cylinder (16, 17; 20, 21) to perform braking. In the latter case, brake fluid fed by a pump (64) is fed to the wheel cylinder (16, 17; 20, 21), before the brake fluid is fed from the master cylinder (11) to the wheel cylinder (16, 17; 20, 21) by a driver depressing the brake pedal (12). Accordingly, without leading to an increase in the stroke of the brake pedal (12), a required amount of brake fluid can be fed to the wheel cylinder (16, 17; 20, 21) to thus ensure a sufficient braking force.

摘要: A brake system includes a master cylinder which generates brake fluid pressure by a braking operation of a driver, an electric motor driven slave cylinder that generates brake fluid pressure according to an electrical signal based on the braking operation of the driver, a vehicle wheel cylinder for braking a wheel by the brake fluid pressure generated in the master cylinder or the slave cylinder, a brake light that informs a following vehicle of the operation of the wheel cylinder, and a first sensor and a second sensor that detect stroke positions of the brake pedal. During normal operation of the brake system the brake fluid pressure generated in the slave cylinder is transferred to the wheel cylinder. During abnormal operation of the brake system, the brake fluid pressure generated in the master cylinder is transferred to the wheel cylinder. Further, the first sensor activates the brake light when the slave cylinder operates normally, and the second sensor activates the brake light when the slave cylinder does not operate normally.

The actuator is activated by an electric signal independent of a braking action of the driver and the actuator is activated only when the wheel cylinders are to be automatically activated without relying on the braking action of the driver.

摘要: In a brake system including a master cylinder and an electrically-driven hydraulic pressure generator with front and rear pistons, when the hydraulic pressure generator cannot be operated and a failure of a first hydraulic system linked to a rear fluid chamber of the generator occurs and makes a first hydraulic system open to the atmosphere, the brake-fluid pressure of a second hydraulic system transmitted from the master cylinder to a wheel cylinder via a front fluid chamber of the generator is used to perform braking. A forward-facing third front cup seal provided at an intermediate portion of the front piston prevents the brake-fluid pressure generated by the master cylinder from leaking out from a front supply port via the rear fluid chamber. At the same time, a stopper prevents the pressure of the front fluid chamber from moving the front piston excessively backward. The braking is accordingly secured by use of the second hydraulic system linked to the front fluid chamber of the motor cylinder.

摘要: When an electrical fluid pressure generator fails and a wheel cylinder is operated by brake fluid pressure generated by a master cylinder, if a first fluid pressure system leading to a rear fluid chamber of the electrical fluid pressure generator fails and is opened to the atmosphere, braking is performed by brake fluid pressure of a second fluid pressure system transmitted from the master cylinder through a front fluid chamber of the electrical fluid pressure generator to a wheel cylinder. At this time, a front supply port, which communicates through a front second cup seal facing rearward with the rear fluid chamber opened to the atmosphere due to the failure, does not communicate with the master cylinder but with a reservoir. Therefore, it is possible to prevent leakage of the brake fluid pressure generated by the master cylinder through the front supply port, the front second cup seal and the rear fluid chamber, thereby ensuring braking by the second fluid pressure system leading to the front fluid chamber of the electrical fluid pressure generator.

摘要: During normal operation of a braking force generating device, the wheels are braked by braking force generating device when a depressing force cut-off valve is closed by energizing its solenoid to cut off communication between a master cylinder and wheel cylinders. When an abnormality occurs, a master cylinder generates a brake fluid pressure upon a driver's braking operation, and supplies it to the wheel cylinders when the depressing force cut-off valve is opened by de-energizing its solenoid. When the depressing force cut-off valve is closed, such as during normal operation, since the depressing force cut-off valve functions as a one-way valve that is urged in a valve-closing direction due to a brake fluid pressure generated by the master cylinder, an electromagnetic force generated by the solenoid is smaller, thereby reducing the power consumption of the solenoid.

摘要: A method of controlling the driving state of a vehicle in which an antilock brake control for eliminating a locking tendency of a wheel during braking can be carried out, and a four-wheel drive state and a two-wheel drive state can be switched from one to another. A monitored estimated vehicle speed is calculated on the basis of highest one of wheel speeds of the vehicle wheels and a value is detected by a longitudinal acceleration/deceleration sensor for detecting a longitudinal acceleration or deceleration of a vehicle speed, and a judgement speed is determined at a value lower than the monitored estimated vehicle speed. The vehicle speed is also independently determined based upon the speed of each of the vehicle wheels. The four-wheel drive state is switched to the two-wheel drive state in response to highest one of vehicle speeds independently calculated on the basis of the wheel speeds becoming equal to or less than the judgement speed in the four-wheel drive state. Thus, when the brake depression force is small, the four wheels are prevented from gradually falling into their locked states, with the four-wheel drive state being maintained when the antilock brake control is not carried out.
