Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of preparing an ultra-light metal oxide-silica composite aerogel having high specific surface area and high pore volume and a metal oxide-silica composite aerogel prepared thereby. The preparation method according to the present invention may not only have good economic efficiency because production costs are relatively reduced in comparison to the related art, but may also effectively prevent the collapse of a pore structure by suppressing a shrinkage phenomenon during drying, and thus, a metal oxide-silica composite aerogel having ultra-light properties as well as high porosity characteristics, such as high specific surface area and high pore volume, may be prepared.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus of manufacturing an aerogel sheet. The apparatus of manufacturing the aerogel sheet includes: a fixing vessel into which a blanket is inserted; and an impregnation device putting a silica sol precursor into the blanket inserted into the fixing vessel to impregnate and gelate the silica sol precursor, wherein the impregnation device includes a rotation roller moving from one end to the other end of a top surface of the blanket while rotating to put the stored silica sol precursor into the blanket and thereby to impregnate and gelate the silica sol precursor.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for producing an aerogel blanket exhibiting excellent hydrophobicity at high temperatures and an aerogel blanket produced thereby. The present invention uses a mixture of silica sol and a hydrophobic aerogel powder as an aerogel precursor and thus can achieve hydrophobicity in the internal structure as well as on the surface of the aerogel included in the aerogel blanket. Accordingly, the aerogel blanket can attain high hydrophobicity and thus can exhibit excellent hydrophobicity retention ability even in high-temperature applications.

The silica aerogel-including blanket according to the present disclosure is capable of exhibiting flame retardancy as well as an excellent insulation property, particularly, an excellent insulation property at high temperatures, by including an opacifying agent having excellent dispersibility and high surface activity through chemical etching.
