Abstract: A system includes a modulator to modulate data using Quadrature Phase Shift Keying modulation and dual sub-carrier modulation to generate modulated symbols for transmission on a plurality of subcarriers. A repetition module repeats the modulated symbols from a first half of the plurality of subcarriers to a second half of the plurality of subcarriers. A phase rotation module rotates phase of the modulated symbols on selected subcarriers of the second half of the plurality of subcarriers. The selected subcarriers include all of the second half of the plurality of subcarriers. The phase rotation module rotates the phase of the modulated symbols on all of the second half of the plurality of subcarriers to conjugate the modulated symbols on all of the second half of the plurality of subcarriers relative to corresponding modulated symbols on all of the first half of the plurality of subcarriers.

Abstract: Systems, devices, and techniques relating to a link layer service platform (LSP) that provides, among other things, assisted multi-band wireless communications are described. A described device includes a first radio to transmit and receive based on a first wireless protocol; a second radio to transmit and receive based on a second wireless protocol, the second wireless protocol being different from the first wireless protocol; and a controller to use the first radio to assist communications via the second radio. The controller can be configured to cause the first radio to transmit, receive, or both one or more control frames associated with the second wireless protocol using the first wireless protocol, and cause the second radio to transmit or receive one or more data frames using the second wireless protocol in accordance with the one or more control frames.

Abstract: A method for adjusting an arrival time of a first orthogonal frequency division multiplex (OFDM) data unit of an uplink multi-user (MU) data unit is described. Respective round trip times (RTTs) are determined by a first communication device for multiple communication devices that communicate with the first communication device. A first time offset for a second communication device of the multiple communication devices is determined by the first communication device based on the respective RTTs. The first OFDM data unit is to be transmitted by the second communication device. A first timing control message that indicates the first time offset is generated by the first communication device. The first timing control message is caused by the first communication device to be transmitted to the second communication device.

Abstract: A first format according to which a PHY data unit is to be generated is selected. The data unit is generated according to the first format, including generating a PHY preamble of the PHY data unit to include a first field and a second field. The PHY preamble is generated so that one or more OFDM symbols are rotated by 90 degrees with respect to other OFDM symbols in the PHY preamble to signal the first format. Or, the first field is generated to include a set of bits that according to an error detection scheme that does not conform to a second format; or the set of information bits indicates a mode not supported in connection with the second format. Or, a duplicate of at least one of the first field and the second field is included in the PHY preamble, to signal the first format.

The systems and methods may include receiving, at the transmitter, a request from a receiver to retransmit data. The systems and methods may further include operating on the signals using the first transmitter block in at least one of a first mode and a second mode, such that an output of signals from the first transmitter block is dependent on a time-varying function and corresponds to the data requested by the receiver for retransmission.

Abstract: Accordingly, systems and methods for managing power when the number of training and data tones are increased in a wireless communications system are provided. An L-SIG field is generated that includes a set of data and pilot tones, wherein the pilot tones are inserted between the data tones in the set of data and pilot tones. A plurality of training tones is added to the L-SIG field before and after the set of data and pilot tones. A symbol is generated that includes the L-SIG field, an L-LTF field, and a data field, wherein the training tones of the L-SIG field provide channel estimates for the data field. Power of the L-LTF field is managed relative to power of the L-SIG field in the generated symbol in a time domain.

Abstract: A physical layer (PHY) preamble is generated, the PHY preamble defined by a first wireless communication protocol and including a first portion that corresponds to a legacy PHY preamble defined by a second, legacy wireless communication protocol. The PHY preamble also includes a second portion that is defined by the first wireless communication protocol. Error detection information is generated using a first field in the first portion of the PHY preamble. The second portion of the PHY preamble is generated to include the error detection information in a second field. The PHY data unit is generated so that the PHY data unit includes the PHY preamble.
