Abstract:
A backhoe or excavator is adapted for use in lifting and transporting objects such as logs, beams, and the like, by a gripping attachment that functions in conjunction with the backhoe bucket. The gripping attachment consists of one or more, preferably two, plates that have a scalloped contact edge in the form of a series of convex curved protrusions while the protrusions themselves are arranged in a concave curve. The attachment is mounted or capable of being mounted to the surface of the boom at a location a short distance above the pivot axis of the bucket on the side of the boom that is also faced by the bucket opening. When the bucket is thus rotated back toward the attachment, an object to be lifted or transported can be securely held between the bucket and the scalloped edge with no damage to the surface of the object.

Abstract:
The transceiver features a fast de-excitation circuit, by means of which the transceiver can be very quickly de-energized or de-excited after sending of signals. The fast de-excitation circuit can be realized in the simplest case as a controllable switch with series-connected resistor. The transceiver is thus ready to receive signals again very fast, i.e. in the range of a few oscillation periods. With bidirectional data communication between transceiver and transponder the danger of malfunctions is avoided or at least reduced to a minimum level.
Abstract:
A power output stage for switching inductive loads contains a series circuit having a load and a switching transistor. A series connected circuit formed of a blocking diode and a multiplicity of Zener diodes is disposed between the drain and gate electrodes of the switching transistor. A capacitor, a resistor or a series or parallel circuit of a capacitor and a resistor is disposed in parallel with at least one of the Zener diodes. The circuit configuration rounds off the pronounced kink in the drain voltage when the Zener protection cuts in during a switched state of the switching transistor.
Abstract:
A method for monitoring the operation of sensors in an internal combustion engine includes providing reference values from output signals from a sensor. A sliding average (comparison value) is calculated from a relatively large number of reference values. The operation of the sensor is diagnosed as a function of the amplitude distribution of the reference values about the comparison value. If a malfunction is found, a fault message is transmitted to the driver and reversionary running of the internal combustion engine is started. An electric controller operating in accordance with the sensor is also provided.
Abstract:
A transmit antenna (3) is supplied with energy by a power supply unit (2). An electrical value characteristic for the transmit power is compared to a comparison value and the length of a time interval is measured in which the characteristic value at least reaches or exceeds the comparison value. Depending on the length of this time interval the transmit power is set.
Abstract:
Multiple computer devices are networked, and each computer device stores a bookmark database. A user can add delete or change bookmarks on any of the computer devices. Alterations made to a bookmark database are stored locally. Every alteration is time stamped. If a bookmark is deleted, it is marked as deleted, but not erased from the local bookmark database. Bookmark databases stored on other computer devices are unaffected by changes made to the bookmark database stored on the local device. In order to update and synchronize all the bookmark databases, the local device receives the data from all the other bookmark databases. Then, the time stamps for each bookmark are compared, and the bookmarks with the most recent time stamps are assembled in a new master bookmark database. The new master bookmark database is then sent to all participating devices in the network.
Abstract:
A golf ball is provided that has a hard sphere core or layer that exhibits a controlled vibrational response. The vibrational response may be controlled by tailoring the stiffness or damping of the sphere with at least one element, such as a groove(s) or any other type of indentation in the hard sphere core. The groove (or grooves) serves to locally reduce the wall thickness of the hollow metal sphere core, thereby reducing the stiffness of the core by allowing larger deformations under a load without significantly reducing the total mass of the core. This results in a golf ball that is legal for play and capable of drive distances essentially equivalent to those of currently available high performance golf balls, but that also maintains a high moment of inertia, allowing less hooks and slices during play.
