    摘要: An antifouling coating composition comprises a binder which is a salt of an amine containing at least one aliphatic hydrocarbon group having 8 to 25 carbon atoms and an addition copolymer of an olefinically unsaturated sulphonic acid, acid sulphate ester, phosphonic acid or acid phosphate ester and at least one olefinically unsaturated comonomer. The coating composition includes an ingredient having biocidal properties for aquatic organisms. The amine is preferably an amine having two aliphatic hydrocarbon groups each having 8 to 25 carbon atoms and the copolymer contains at least 5 mole % of units of an organocyclic ester or amide (A) of an olefinically unsaturated carboxylic acid. The organocyclic ester or amide (A) is preferably an isobornyl ester.

    摘要: An aqueous crosslinkable coating composition suitable for the provision of thick coatings without incurring carbon dioxide bubble formation comprising: (A) an aqueous dispersion of at least one hydroxyl- and acid-functional vinyl polymer having a hydroxyl value of 8 to 250 mg KOH/g of polymer and an acid value of 2 to 55 mg KOH/g of polymer, where the contribution of at least 30% of the acid value results from a monocarboxylic acid(s) of formula: CH2—CR1—Q—CO2H  (1) where R1 is H or lower alkyl of 1 to 5 carbon atoms and Q is a spacer group of formula: [—C(═O)—X—(CH2)m—]k  (2) where X is —O— or —NH—, m is at least 1, preferably 2 or 3, and k is at least 1, preferably 2, 3, 4 or 5; and (B) at least one organic polyisocyanate. The acid of formula (1) preferably comprises &bgr;-carboxyethyl acrylate.

    摘要: Process for making organic solvent-free aqueous crosslinkable polymer composition comprising: a) preparing an aqueous solution of an acid-functional oligomer with Tg 10 to 125.degree. C. and having crosslinker functional groups; b) conducting an aqueous emulsion polymerization to make an aqueous emulsion of an olefinic hydrophobic polymer in the presence of the aqueous oligomer solution, the hydrophobic polymer having Tg at least 25.degree. C. below that of the oligomer and optionally crosslinker functional groups, and c) combining with a crosslinking agent reactable with the crosslinker groups of the oligomer and polymer, said composition having Koenig hardness of .gtoreq.40 sec and minimum film forming temperature (MFFT) .ltoreq.55.degree. C. Also the aqueous composition so formed and its use in various applications. The aqueous composition has excellent properties and in particular an advantageous balance of MFFT and Koenig hardness.
