    Abstract: A method of transmitting data by a communications device, the method comprising receiving a plurality of service data units including a first service data unit and a second service data unit at a Service Data Adaptation Protocol (SDAP), service access point (SAP) according to one or more quality of service (QoS) flows, each of the QoS flows defining a quality of service for the data received from the service data units, mapping the service data units received according to the one or more QoS flows on to one or more radio bearers, each of the one or more radio bearers being defined by a packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) entity within a PDCP layer, forming the service data units into protocol data units for transmission via the radio bearer to which the corresponding QoS flow has been mapped, and transmitting the protocol data units via the corresponding radio bearer.

    Abstract: A method of operating a communications device comprises detecting a plurality of beams of radio signals each being transmitted periodically according to a time divided structure of a wireless access interface provided by a wireless communications network, selecting a first of the plurality of beams of radio signals for detecting a first version of a synchronisation signal transmitted with the first beam of radio signals, selecting a second of the plurality of beams of radio signals for detecting a second version of the synchronisation signal transmitted with the second beam of radio signals, and synchronising with the time divided structure of the wireless access interface from at least one of the first version of the synchronisation signal and the second version of the synchronisation signal.

    Abstract: A method allocating resources in a mobile telecommunications system including a base station, one or more terminals, and one or more infrastructure nodes configured to communicate via a wireless interface allocated for successive time periods. The method includes: obtaining measurements that relate to a link between a first of the terminals and one of the infrastructure nodes; identifying communications between the first terminal and the one infrastructure node as delay-sensitive communications; identifying, based on the obtained measurements and identification of the communications between the first terminal and the one infrastructure nodes as delay-sensitive communications, resources to allocate for the first terminal to communicate with one or more of the infrastructure nodes, selected from two or more of the time periods; and allocating the identified resources for the first terminal to communicate with the one or more of the infrastructure nodes during the two or more time periods.

    Abstract: A method comprising receiving a handover request message indicating a request for handover of a wireless communications device from a source infrastructure equipment to a target infrastructure equipment, receiving an indication from the source infrastructure equipment as to whether or not user plane data is being transmitted to or received from the wireless access network via the source infrastructure equipment using an integrity protection scheme, determining whether or not the integrity protection scheme for the user plane data is supported by the target infrastructure equipment, transmitting a handover command to the source infrastructure equipment to indicate to the source infrastructure equipment that the source infrastructure equipment should handover the wireless communications device to indicate to the source infrastructure equipment, and providing an indication as to whether or not the integrity protection scheme can be used for transmitting or receiving user plane data via the target infrastructure equipment.

    Abstract: A method of controlling communications within a wireless communications network is provided. The method comprises determining, by a first of the infrastructure equipment acting as a donor node connected to a core network part of the wireless communications network, that a plurality of different communications paths exist from a second infrastructure equipment to the first infrastructure equipment via one or more other infrastructure equipment acting as relay nodes, transmitting, by the first infrastructure equipment, an indication at least part of each of one or more of the plurality of different communications paths to the second infrastructure equipment, and selecting, by the second infrastructure equipment based on the indication received from the first infrastructure equipment, at least one of the plurality of different communications paths for communicating with the first infrastructure equipment.
