Abstract: A method for a communications device in a coverage region of a first cell generated by a non-terrestrial network part of a wireless communications network, the first cell being a serving cell for the communications device, the method comprising determining whether the coverage area of the first cell overlaps with a region associated with a coverage area of at least one non-serving cell, and in response to determining that the coverage area of the serving cell overlaps with a region associated with a coverage area of at least one non-serving cell, initiating measurements of signals transmitted on a frequency which is used for transmissions by infrastructure equipment associated with the at least one non-serving cell.

Abstract: A handover procedure for a terminal device in a system comprising the terminal device, a source network access node to which the terminal device is initially connected, and one or more candidate target network access nodes. The method includes determining that a first measurement for radio channel conditions for a first candidate target access node satisfies a first predefined criterion; receiving at the terminal device connection information for use by the terminal device for connecting to the first candidate target network access node; establishing a second measurement for radio channel conditions between the terminal device and one of the one or more candidate target network access nodes; determining that the second measurement of radio channel conditions satisfies a second predefined criterion; and transmitting from the terminal device an indication that the second measurement of radio channel conditions for the first candidate target network access node satisfies the second predefined criterion.

Abstract: A communications device is provided, which is configured to transmit or receive signals via a wireless access interface provided by the wireless communications network to or from one or more infrastructure equipment. The communications device is configured, at the time of a Radio Resource Control (RRC) connection establishment procedure, to receive a first message from one of the infrastructure equipment comprising an indication that the infrastructure equipment is capable of operating in accordance with a packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) in accordance with a first radio access technology, to establish a PDCP entity based on the received indication, and to transmit a second message to the infrastructure equipment comprising an indication that the communications device is capable of operating in accordance with one or both of the PDCP in accordance with the first radio access technology and a PDCP in accordance with a second radio access technology.

Abstract: A method of controlling communications within a wireless communications network is provided. The communications network comprises a plurality of infrastructure equipment each being configured to communicate with one or more others of the infrastructure equipment via a backhaul communications link, one or more of the infrastructure equipment each being configured to communicate with one or more communications devices via a wireless access interface. The method comprises receiving, at a first of the infrastructure equipment acting as a donor node connected to a core network part of the wireless communications network, from a second of the infrastructure equipment, information relating to each of a plurality of different communications paths from the second infrastructure equipment to the first infrastructure equipment via one or more others of the infrastructure equipment acting as relay nodes, determining, based on the received information relating to the plurality of different communications paths, that either at least a part of a new communications path exists between the first of the infrastructure equipment and the second of the infrastructure equipment or at least a part of a previously known communications path no longer exists between the first of the infrastructure equipment and the second of the infrastructure equipment, and updating a communications path list by either adding the at least the part of the new communications path or deleting the at least the part of the previously known communications path that no longer exists.
