Abstract:
Construction of LDPC (Low Density Parity Check) codes using GRS (Generalized Reed-Solomon) code. A novel approach is presented by which a GRS code may be employed to generate a wide variety of types of LDPC codes. Such GRS based LDPC codes may be employed within various types of transceiver devices implemented within communication systems. This approach may be employed to generate GRS based LDPC codes particular designed for various application arenas. As one example, such a GRS based LDPC code may be specifically designed for use in communication systems that operate in accordance with any standards and/or recommended practices of the IEEE P802.3an (10GBASE-T) Task Force.
Abstract:
A method, system and computer program product to adjust transfer rates on conductors in a multi-conductor cable comprising monitoring signals received on each conductor, determining a Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) for each conductor and adjusting a transfer rate on one or more conductors based on the corresponding SNR. In an embodiment the multi-conductor cable is a twisted pair Ethernet cable. The method further comprises determining whether a conductor is transmitting at an optimal transfer rate as a function of its SNR, calculating an optimal transfer rate for each conductor as a function of its SNR and periodically measuring a change in SNR on each conductor. If the change in SNR is greater than a predetermined threshold, then the transfer rate is re-calculated for the conductors requiring transfer rate adjustment as a function of SNR.
Abstract:
An electrocoagulation treatment device includes a plurality of spaced reaction plates disposed within a reaction chamber. A voltage is applied to selected reaction plates to create an electrical field within the electrocoagulation chamber. The plates are arranged vertically which induces a vertical flow of liquid through a device. The device includes various embodiments adapted for use as a large industrial unit, a portable unit or for use within the home. The voltage and amperage of the electrical field chamber may be adjusted by placing selected reaction plates in electrical contact with the voltage source. One embodiment is especially adapted for treatment of oil slop to remove water from the oil, and for treatment of seawater to desalinate the same.
Abstract:
Aspects of a method and system for utilizing a 10/100/1G/10GBase-T PHY device for single channel and shared channel networks are provided. In this regard, at least one switching element may be utilized to configure an Ethernet over twisted pair PHY device for communication over a single and/or shared channel. The switching element may enable switching between a transmitter being coupled to a shared channel and a receiver being coupled to a shared channel. Additionally, the switching elements may be based on whether the transmitter is connected to a standard 10/100/1G/10GBase-T network, or to a single and/or shared channel network, for example. In this manner, the configured PHY device may remain compatible with existing Ethernet networks. The PHY device may be configured externally and/or internally. The polarity of transmitted and/or received data may be configured based on a polarity of data received from a shared channel.

Camera heads having multiple image sensors, configured to provide digitally articulated images or video, at adjustable resolutions and/or offsets and orientations, to a camera control unit (CCU) or other electronic computing system for display, storage, and/or transmission to other systems are disclosed.
Abstract:
Aspects of a method and system for reducing transceiver power via a variable symbol rate are provided. In this regard, an Ethernet transmitter may be enabled to transmit data at a variable symbol rate, wherein the symbol rate is determined based on a state of a link coupled to said Ethernet transmitter and/or resources available to said Ethernet transmitter. In this regard, link state may comprise one or more of, for example, available bandwidth, bit error rate, packet error rate, and link utilization; and resources may comprise one or more of, for example, power, buffer space, and processor time. Accordingly one or more threshold for link state and/or resources may be determined and the symbol rate may be adjusted when those thresholds are exceeded. Aspects of the invention may enable defining and/or transmitting unique symbols to identify possible symbol rates and/or a change in symbol rate.
Abstract:
Advanced and dynamic physical layer device capabilities utilizing a link interruption signal. The physical layer device can use a link interruption signal to signal to a media access controller device that the link has temporarily been interrupted. This link interruption signal can be generated in response to one or more programmable modes of the physical layer device that are used to support the advanced and dynamic physical layer device capabilities.
Abstract:
Aspects of a method and system for an extended range copper transceiver are provided. Reducing the communication rate provided by multi-rate physical (PHY) layer operations in an Ethernet transceiver may extend the range of the Ethernet transceiver over twisted-pair copper cabling from a standard connection length. The Ethernet transceiver may support up to 1 Gbps or up to 10 Gbps transmission rate over copper cabling. The multi-rate PHY layer architecture in the Ethernet transceiver may support signal-processing operations, such as echo cancellation and/or equalization, which may be applied to the reduced communication rate to enable range extension. The reduced communication rate may be achieved by reducing the symbol rate provided by the multi-rate PHY layer operations. Reducing the communication rate may also enable utilizing greater insertion loss cabling for a standard connection length.
