摘要: This disclosure describes content-adaptive coding and modulation techniques. In particular, this disclosure describes techniques in which both a multimedia coding mode and a physical layer modulation scheme are adaptively selected based on content of a multimedia sequence. When the content changes such that either the coding or the modulation scheme can be improved, the coding and/or modulation may be changed to better optimize to the changed content. In one aspect, this disclosure provides a method of processing multimedia data, the method comprising selecting a multimedia coding mode for an encoder to encode the multimedia data and a physical layer modulation scheme for transmission of the multimedia data based on content of the multimedia data.

摘要: This disclosure relates to techniques to establish a multicast communication session between a source device and multiple sink devices in a Wireless Display (WD) system. Two or more sink devices may be interested in receiving the same media data from the source device. According to the techniques, the source device establishes a multicast session with the sink devices in the WD system, and sends a single copy of multicast media data for the multicast session to the interested sink devices using a receiving multicast port. The source device selects a receiving multicast port number as a destination identifier for each multicast session. The sink devices interested in receiving the media data of a given multicast session bind on the receiving multicast port for the multicast session. This disclosure describes several exemplary multicast subscription procedures to ensure correct binding on the receiving multicast port at each of the sink devices.

摘要: This disclosure describes techniques for improving mode selection decisions during the encoding of macroblocks (or other blocks) of multimedia frames of a multimedia sequence. During motion estimation, the encoding modes for macroblocks can be determined so that a desirable encoding rate and acceptable levels of distortion (i.e., acceptable rate-distortion) can be achieved. The techniques may include selecting a set of multimedia coding modes between at least two sets of possible multimedia coding modes for a macroblock of a multimedia frame based on a detail metric associated with the macroblock and mode information associated with neighboring blocks to the macroblock.

摘要: A method, system, and computer program product for providing feedback over a multiple path network is provided. A first device sends a transmissions to a second device over at least two different paths of the network. Using information collected as a result of receiving the transmissions, the second device aggregates data regarding the performance of each of the paths together into a feedback message. The second device then sends this feedback message to the first device over one path of the network. The first device uses the data in the feedback message in its calculations for determining the relative performance of each path. The amount of traffic sent along each path is adjusted as appropriate, based on these calculations.

摘要: As part of a communication session, a wireless source device can transmit audio and video data to a wireless sink device, and the wireless sink device can transmit user input data received at the wireless sink device back to the wireless source device. In this manner, a user of the wireless sink device can control the wireless source device and control the content that is being transmitted from the wireless source device to the wireless sink device. The input data received at the wireless sink device can have associated coordinate information that is scaled or normalized by either the wireless sink device or the wireless source device.

摘要: Methods and apparatuses to encode multimedia data enabling, among others, for example, improved decoded video quality, improved error recovery capabilities and/or improved decoding efficiency are described. An encoder device determines one or more distortion values for one or more portions of multimedia data based at least in part on one or more concealment methods related to concealing the one or more portions if the one or more portions were received in error. The encoder device determines one or more encoding methods for the one or more portions based at least in part on the one or more estimated distortion values. In one aspect, determining the one or more encoding methods comprises determining the one or more encoding methods so as to refresh the one or more portions based at least in part on a comparison of the one or more estimated distortion values and one or more thresholds.
