    摘要： A coating device for coating a medical device with a drug-eluting material uses an in-process drying station between coats to improve a drug release profile. The drying station includes a dryer having a telescoping plenum which provides a drying chamber for the stent or scaffold to reside while a heated gas is passed over the stent/scaffold. The drying chamber improves efficiency in drying, predictability or drug release rate, uniformity of coating material properties lengthwise over the stent/scaffold and provides a platform that can effectively support stents that are over 40 mm in length.

    摘要： An apparatus and method for applying a coating composition to a stent. A mandrel for supporting the stent has one or more drive pins and other supporting structure that loosely supports the stent, in an unstable position. The support permits freedom of movement of the stent relative to the mandrel to cause the stent to frequently re-position itself over the mandrel during a spraying process. When a coating composition is applied, the stent randomly or periodically moves about relative to the mandrel due to intermittent contact between the stent and the rotating mandrel and fluidic forces applied through the sprayed coating composition.

    摘要： Coating a stent may include continuously rotating the stent in one direction while spraying a first coating layer followed by continuously rotating the stent in another direction while spraying a second coating layer, wherein the first layer is preferentially distributed over a side surface of the stent struts and the second layer is preferentially distributed over an opposite side surface of the stent struts. The overall coating distribution combining both layers may be evenly distributed over the two side surfaces of the stent struts.

    摘要： A precision ball bearing slide mechanism having a removable inner member. One version of the invention utilizes an inner member which also holds the inner member in a locked out extended position. The inner member is stopped and locked by the engagement of an elongated latch with a stop. By moving the latch the inner member may be removed from the body of the slide. Latches which lock the inner member in an extended configuration and permit retraction only upon movement of the latch are disclosed as are configurations which permit the slide to be readily retracted. Also disclosed is a version of the latch which permits the slide to be retracted upon exertion of an inward force on the slide.
