摘要: A method or system for computing and/or setting optimal cardiac resynchronization pacing parameters as derived from intrinsic conduction data is presented. The intrinsic conduction data includes intrinsic atrio-ventricular and interventricular delay intervals which may be collected via the sensing channels of an implantable cardiac device. Among the parameters which may be optimized in this manner are an atrio-ventricular delay interval and a biventricular offset interval. In one of its aspects, the invention provides for computing optimum pacing parameters for patients having some degree of AV block or with atrial conduction deficits. Another aspect of the invention relates to a pacing mode and configuration for providing cardiac resynchronization therapy to patients with a right ventricular conduction disorder.

摘要: A first electrode is positioned within an artery proximate an implanted intravascular stent. A second electrode is positioned at a separate location relative the position of the first electrode. Electrical energy is then delivered between the first and the second electrodes to produce an electrical field adjacent the implanted intravascular stent. When a intravascular stent is implanted in a coronary artery, the delivery of the electrical energy is coordinated to cardiac cycles detected in sensed cardiac signals, where the delivery of the electrical energy between the first electrode and the second electrode occurs during a predetermined portion of the cardiac cycle.

摘要: A cardiac electro-stimulatory device and method for operating same in which stimulation pulses are distributed among a plurality of electrodes fixed at different sites of the myocardium in order to reduce myocardial hypertrophy brought about by repeated pacing at a single site and/or increase myocardial contractility. In order to spatially and temporally distribute the stimulation, the pulses are delivered through a switchable pulse output configuration during a single cardiac cycle, with each configuration comprising one or more electrodes fixed to different sites in the myocardium.

摘要: A method and a system for preserving patient specific data in implantable pulse generator systems. A communication link is established with a first implantable pulse generator. Electronic cardiac data contained within the first implantable pulse generator is retrieved through the communication link. The electronic cardiac data is then electronically downloaded to a second implantable pulse generator. Prior to downloading, the electronic cardiac data can be formatted into a format compatible with the second implantable pulse generator.

摘要: A cardiac rhythm management system predicts when an arrhythmia will occur and in one embodiment invokes a therapy to prevent or reduce the consequences of the arrhythmia. A cardiac arrhythmia trigger/marker is detected from a patient, and based on the trigger/marker, the system estimates a probability of a cardiac arrhythmia occurring during a predetermined future time interval. The system provides a list of triggers/markers, for which detection values are recurrently obtained at various predetermined time intervals. Based on detection values and conditional probabilities associated with the triggers/markers, a probability estimate of a future arrhythmia is computed. An arrhythmia prevention therapy is selected and activated based on the probability estimate of the future arrhythmia.

摘要: A method and system for ventricular defibrillation by coordinating the delivery of defibrillation shocks with sensed ventricular fibrillation complexes in a way which improves the probability of success of the defibrillation shock. Ventricular electrical activity is monitored in two ventricular locations during ventricular fibrillation to detect coarse ventricular fibrillation complexes and contractions of the ventricular cardiac tissue. The defibrillation shock is delivered in coordination with the occurrence of coarse ventricular fibrillation complexes and the contractions of ventricular cardiac tissue, and specifically to occur on the up-slope portion thereof, for optimal probability of success.

摘要: Biologically active materials are provided in a cylindrical carrier medium with better control over the rate of delivery and length of time of delivery by providing a carrier having dissolved or dispersed therein at least two compounds having a common biologically active nucleus, but with different solubility parameters. The combination of the two different variants of the same drug with different solubility parameters provides the material with control over the rate of release of the compounds (by varying the proportions of the variants) and most importantly, extending the useful life of the device by enabling release of effective levels of the compounds over a longer period of time. The cylindrical carrier medium, comprised of silicone, further includes a tail, a skirt, or a rate-limiting membrane.
