摘要: A label marks a composite material. In one embodiment, the label may be printed with magnetically doped ink and may be embedded between layers of the composite during manufacture. In one embodiment, the label may be embedded on the surface of the composite material using a heat curable resin. In one embodiment, the label carries indicia that may be read with magnetic ink character recognition (MICR) or other magnetic scanning technology. In one embodiment, there is no need for visual contrast between the composite, label and/or indicia.

摘要: A process for detection of straight-line segments in a stream of digital data that are representative of an image (m, n) in which the contour points of said image each defined by the modulus and the orientation θ of their gradient in relation to a horizontal axis are identified. The stream of digital data is stored in the form of two successive lines, each of n points P(i, j), for each of the lines the n points of said line are extracted successively, and for each point Pc(i, j) extracted, the so-called current point, the three points having inferior coordinates Pa(i−l, j−l), Pb(i, j−l), Pd(i−l, j) directly neighbouring said current point are extracted, successively the value of the orientation of the current point Pc is compared with that of the neighbouring points Pa, Pb and Pd. The values of the orientations of the points Pb and Pd are compared, the result of a comparison is validated if the points are contour points and if the values of their orientation are close. Moreover, when the result of a comparison is validated the coordinates of the point of the connection having inferior coordinates are copied over to those of the point having superior coordinates, it is verified whether solely the point Pa(i−l, j−l) is a contour point amongst the four points Pa, Pb, Pc, Pd extracted, and in the affirmative case the coordinates of the origin point and of the final point and the orientation of the straight-line segment, if its size is greater than a predetermined threshold, are saved.

摘要: Buildings such as residences and commercial locations may have a data marker such as a barcode and/or RF device. A data marker may store/carry data indicative of an address. This allows verification of a physical address of a location and/or a name of an owner, business(es), residents, and/or employees at that location. A service provider may utilize the data marker during the provision of services. For example, when a package is to be delivered, the data marker may be scanned/interrogated for address verification and then the item may be delivered. This speeds up the tracking and delivery of goods and services. It also reduces or eliminates human error during delivery as every residence and business has an address.

摘要: A content player receives a content carrier, which includes a first computer readable medium and a second computer readable medium, and determines whether a valid license exists for accessing content or a segment of content carried in the first computer readable medium. The first computer readable medium includes a first authorization token, and the second computer readable medium includes a second authorization token. The first and second authorization tokens or some portions thereof are associated with each other and are associated with the segment of content. The content player uses at least the first and second authorization tokens in determining whether to grant access to the segment of content.

摘要: A thermal printer includes a capacitor and a power converter operable to step a voltage of a power source, and coupled to charge the capacitor. Printing is controlled based at least in part on a charge state of the capacitor. Delays in charging the capacitor may be avoided where a current line of print data is blank. Operation may be curtailed where the voltage of the power source is below a threshold.

摘要: A radio frequency identification (RFID) device with two or more antennas may select one antenna to backscatter or otherwise transmit, while deriving power from receipt of a carrier wave at one or more other antennas. The RFID device may select the antenna receiving the lower power or producing the lower voltage to transmit. The RFID device may select the antenna receiving the higher power or producing the higher voltage to transmit if the lower power or voltage is insufficient to operate the RFID device to backscatter or transmit. The RFID device may select neither antenna to transmit if the higher power or voltages are insufficient to operate the RFID device to backscatter or transmit.

摘要: A microchip system comprises a self check subsystem operable to perform a self test of at least one subsystem of the microchip system, and/or on the interoperability of subsystems. An antenna and a communications subsystem wirelessly transmit self check information from the microchip system. The communications subsystem may also receive information, data or instructions from an off-chip system or device. Self check tests may occur during manufacture of the microchip system and/or during operation. The microchip system may comprise a passive power subsystem coupled to an antenna to receive power in the form of an electromagnetic field, and which provides electrical power derived therefrom to at least one other subsystem of the microchip system.
