    摘要： An article for support of an individual is disclosed which includes a body supporting member having a first portion adapted to encircle the waist of an individual, and a second portion adapted to pass through the crotch of an individual. The article for support further includes at least one attachment member which is attached through a first seam to a rear portion of the body supporting member and attached through a second seam to a base sheet that covers at least a portion of inclined surface, bed, wheelchair, or the like. The attachment member and said seams are configured so that when the attachment member is extended, the distance between the base sheet and the first portion of the body supporting member is greater than the distance between the base sheet and the second portion of the body supporting member.

    摘要： A chair restraint for supporting a patient in a sitting position from a chair or the like includes an upper torso support member having an orthotic support panel readily removable therefrom. The orthotic support panel is made from a plastic which is readily deformable by a heat gun or the like such that it may be custom fit to surround the patient both from his back and sides to provide lateral support to the patient. The upper torso restraint member includes a pair of straps extending forwardly to wrap around the front of the patient to thereby secure the patient within the upper torso restraint member. A seat cushion member includes a flat panel stiffener to provide a firm base for the patient and an interior cushioning member which is inclined generally rearwardly to thereby cradle the patient within the restraint. A center divider member of cushioning material provides two separately defined areas for receiving the patient's legs. Straps are provided for securing the upper torso restraing member to the seat cushion member, and both of those members independently to the chair frame.

The preferred embodiment is quite wide in order to compress a wide area of the abdominal area of the patient against the backboard for greater print clarity, and two genital shields are alternately and removably attached with Velcro (tm) to cover the gonads or ovaries of the patient.

    摘要： The application discloses a rigid or semi-rigid, two-part confining cover for a patient in a conventional hospital bed. The problem dealt with is that of a disturbed patient who would normally require confinement by ties, straps, or other conventional restraints, together with, in many cases, round-the-clock guarding by an attendant. The mattress support frame of a hospital bed usually has one or more horizontal pivot joints, the most important of which enables tilt-up of the back of the bed. Knee lift provisions are generally provided. The disclosed cover includes forward and rearward open-bottom shells, hinged to one another about the hinge axis of the bed used for tilt-up of the back part of the bed. The front shell has side walls rising from the longitudinal edges of the bed frame, forward of the aforementioned pivot axis, a front end closure, and a top closure. The back shell has side walls rising from the longitudinal edges of the bed frame from this pivot axis back, a rear end wall, and a top wall. The rear end of the front shell and the forward end of the rearward shell are fitted together in a manner to form a closure throughout the range of tilting of the rearward shell. The shells are perforated for air circulation, and are commodious enough to permit the patient adequate space for relatively free movement inside the closure. Access doors are provided.
