摘要： Adjustable wheelchair with a frame on whose sides the wheel axles of hand-driven rear wheels are mounted on mounts provided on the frame with a negative camber, i.e., closer together at top than at bottom. The mounts each have a mounting part in which there is an inclined bore hole holding the rear wheel axle in order to achieve the negative angle. The mounting parts 16 of the wheel axles 8 on both sides are arranged so they can rotate independently of each other in the respective mounts 6 and can be secured in any set rotational position. By releasing the mounts, the mounting parts can be rotated to change the direction of the rear wheels to eliminate toe-in or tow-out. Thus, any desired variation in the angle of the rear wheels is possible and/or any toe-in or toe-out tendency can be corrected.

摘要： An improved camber sleeve assembly is provided for rotatably supporting the main or large rear wheels on the frame of a wheelchair or the like. The camber sleeve assembly comprises a camber plate adapted for connection to the wheelchair frame at one side thereof. A pair of camber sleeve members are mounted in aligned relation at opposite sides of the camber plate and cooperatively define an angularly set bore for receiving and supporting an axle bushing at a selected chamber angle, with the axle bushing being adapted in turn to receive an axle pin of a wheelchair wheel. An alternative camber angle can be obtained by use of a different pair of sleeve members defining a bore set at the alternative angle.

A seat frame is provided separate from the main frame with seat mountings permitting longitudinal, tilt and height adjustments of the seat on the main frame. Unique wheel mountings permit simple manual removal and attachment of the wheels to the main frame, using only one hand. The same wheel mountings permit adjustment of the camber angle of each wheel relative to a vertical plane so that propelling and maneuvering of the wheelchair can be made easier than in the absence of any camber. The seat back for the chair is designed to fold down over the seat frame so that this feature in combination with easy removal of the wheels provides for compact storage during travel.

A plastic pallet supports a collapsible chair frame, and is mounted to a base frame for adjustment along the base frame to thereby adjust the center of gravity of the wheelchair. The rear drive wheels and the caster-type front wheels are both mounted to the frame for easy removal, utilizing a split-block receiving the spindle or shaft from the wheels. The blocks may be pivoted about axes perpendicular to the axes of rotation of the rear wheels to adjust the camber of the wheels, and--by effecting flexing of a leaf spring to which the blocks are mounted--the toe of the rear wheels may be adjusted.

摘要： A manual wheelchair has a camber tube that supports manual drive wheels for rotation relative to a wheelchair frame. A pair of drive motors are housed within the camber tube and connect to an axle shaft supported within a wheel hub. The axle shaft has a distal end defining an angle accommodating and torque-transmitting profile that connects to the drive motor. The axle shaft has a proximal end defining a torque transmitting connection with a drive disconnect assembly that selectively permits engagement of the drive motor to the wheel hub. The axle shaft supports a retaining ball and an actuator to permit the drive wheel to be removed from the wheelchair. The drive disconnect assembly permits the motor to be mechanically disconnected from the wheel hub to reduce drag and friction when the wheelchair is operated manually.
