    Abstract: In a power transmission mechanism 20, a line connecting a center shaft 21 of a reference gear member 40 and a first shaft 44 of a first planetary gear member 42 and a line connecting the center shaft 21 of the reference gear member 40 and a second shaft 47 of a second planetary gear member 45 form a specific angle α. Rotation in one direction is prevented when a first carrier member 22 and a second carrier member 32 are relatively rotated in a direction to decrease the specific angle α. Further, a rotation prevention release unit is provided to release a prevention state of the rotation when the first carrier member 22 and the second carrier member 32 are relatively rotated in a direction to increase the specific angle α.

    Abstract: Because sidewalks are slanted for rain run-off, they pose a safety risk for baby strollers if the person pushing the stroller stops and doesn't apply the brake. If s/he releases the stroller's handle when the brake is not applied, the stroller may veer off towards the curb owing to gravity, wind, the baby's movements, traffic vibrations, etc. Not applying the brake when stopped is a common mistake. While parents may remember to apply the brake when stopped, other caregivers may not. Applicant's improvement provides fully automatic slip-clutch joining means to inhibit veering off by automatically coupling the stroller's rear wheels together when the stroller is stopped. When coupled, the rear wheels must rotate in unison thus helping to prevent the stroller from veering-off toward the curb. When the stroller is being pushed the slip clutch handily becomes disengaged by turning or making other course adjustments.

    Abstract: A hub assembly for a wheelchair has a hub device and a switch device. The hub device has a hub shell, an axle, a ring and a ratchet. The ratchet has a cylinder section. The cylinder section has a recess formed in an outer surface of the cylinder section. The switch device has a pin and a wire. The pin is capable of being selectively inserted into the recess. The wire is securely connected with the pin. Because the pin is inserted into the recess and the ratchet engages the ring, the hub shell along with a wheel cannot be moved unintentionally backward on a ramp.

    Abstract: A wheelchair wheel hub locking mechanism is provided to positively lock a wheelchair wheel to the associated wheelchair frame and includes a locking ring member of cylindrical shape fixed to the inner side of the wheelchair wheel hub, the locking ring providing a plurality of dog receiving cages, each cage presenting a dog receiving opening formed by surround walls integral of the ring. A dog and dog mounting plate are mounted to a member of the wheelchair frame, the position of the dog being controlled by movement of an association handle connected by a cable to the dog, forward movement of the handle raising the dog away from cages of the locking ring, movement of the handle rearwardly of the wheelchair allowing the dog under spring bias to move against the locking ring until wheel movement aligns a cage of the ring with the dog and the two lock up.

    Abstract: A stair chair is provided and includes a seat 30, a backrest 34, a foot rest 32, upper handles 84 and lower handles 82. Three wheels 62 are mounted at each side of the chair. The wheels are pivotal about their own axis and also a common axis. Rotation about the common axis can be braked or locked. The chair can be lowered downstairs with a person pulling on the upper handle 84 and another person pushing on the lower handles 82 in order to slow movement of the chair down the stairs.
