    摘要: A filter cartridge centering device and method are provided for centering a filter cartridge within a filter canister. The device includes a flexible elongate strap having a strap portion with a series of ratchet teeth formed near a first end and an enlarged head portion formed at a second end. The head portion contains an aperture and a pawl that cooperates with the ratchet teeth to prevent removal of the strap portion from the aperture. A plurality of flexible fingers extend generally perpendicularly from the strap portion at spaced locations along a length of the strap portion. The flexible fingers are arranged to extend radially outwardly from the filter cartridge to engage an inner wall of the filter canister to center the filter cartridge within the canister.

The suction filter includes a support structure, an inlet connected to the support structure, a filter element connected to the support structure, and a thermally conductive element that communicates with an interior portion of the suction filter. The filter element is configured to filter a fluid as it passes through the filter element into an interior portion of the suction filter. Also, the thermally conductive element extends from the interior portion of the suction filter to an exterior portion of the suction filter. The thermally conductive element is configured to transfer heat obtained external the suction filter to the interior portion of the suction filter in order to provide heat to the fluid in the interior portion of the suction filter.

    摘要: A manifold assembly for use in a medical waste collection device to direct fluid into the medical waste collection device while filtering material from the fluid. The assembly includes a manifold housing having a bottom and a wall extending upwardly from the bottom about a first axis. A support structure is disposed on the bottom and has a filter support surface spaced from the bottom to define a plurality of open spaces between the filter support surface and the bottom. The support structure has a ring defining an outer surface and spaced from the wall. At least one filter is supported by the filter support surface to filter the material from the fluid, the filter having a perimeter. A manifold cap is connected to the manifold housing to define a chamber therebetween, and an intake port is disposed on the manifold cap to direct the fluid into the chamber. An outlet port is disposed on the manifold housing, and a skirt is unitary with the cap and has an inner surface. The perimeter of the filter is trapped between the skirt inner surface and the support structure outer surface to prevent fluid received in the chamber from bypassing the filter as the fluid moves from the chamber to the outlet port.

    摘要: Circulating completion, workover and drilling fluids used in hydrocarbon recovery are filtered after monitoring for viscosity, which frequently causes plugging of filters. A viscometer generates a signal representative of viscosity in the fluid; the signal is used by a programmable controller to divert viscous fluid from the filter, or to take other action to prevent damage to the filter. The viscometer can be used in various positions in the system. Fluids deemed too viscous for the filter can be sent to a viscosity-reducing device, which may be a heating, shear-thinning, or cavitation device, to reduce its viscosity, enabling the fluid to pass through a filter without fouling. After filtering and a return to a lower temperature, the fluid may be treated if necessary to become viscous again for a useful purpose.
