Abstract:
A drill guide apparatus includes a body providing a workpiece clamping surface. The body includes one or more drill guides, wherein the one or more drill guides pass through the workpiece clamping surface at an acute angle, a first track, and a second track. The drill guide apparatus further comprises a first slider mounted on the first track, and a second slider mounted on the second track. The first slider includes a first extrusion that extends beyond the workpiece clamping surface and is slideable along the first track to adjust the position of the first extrusion relative to the workpiece clamping surface. The second slider includes a second extrusion that extends beyond the workpiece clamping surface and is slideable along the second track to adjust the position of the second extrusion relative to the workpiece clamping surface. The drill guide may also include a removeable clamp retainer.
Abstract:
A fixture for drilling a pocket hole in a working face of workpieces of different thicknesses is a U-shaped member having a guide leg and a clamp leg parallel to each other and joined together at a bottom end of each by a transverse base leg. An angled guide channel is in the guide leg that has an entrance for a drill bit on an exterior part of the guide leg and an exit on an interior face which opposes the workpiece working face. A plurality of horizontal elongated ribs are spaced vertically apart on the guide leg interior below the guide channel exit and there is a shelf having a face on which a second face of the workpiece that is transverse to the working face is to rest and that has an edge with a plurality of horizontal vertically spaced ribs to inter-engage with the ribs on said guide leg. A screw extends outwardly from the shelf to extend through a slot in the guide leg and a nut fastens the screw against the guide leg to hold opposing ribs of the guide leg and shelf inter-engaged. Selection of the point of inter-engagement of the ribs sets the height of the shelf support for the workpiece relative to the drill guide channel exit.
Abstract:
An improved simple inclined-hole drilling jig comprises a jig body having a crossover plane at the bottom that can evenly press against the wood workpiece, and a beveled end member at the front. The beveled end member is concavely disposed with a guiding shaft hole, which extends downwardly from the beveled end member through the crossover plane. The upper end of guiding shaft hole is pivotally configured with a guide bushing for drill bit to pass through. The rear end and side surfaces of jig body are respectively formed with a reference face and sidewalls perpendicular to the crossover plane; where the sidewall is at least concavely disposed with a dust guide groove intercrossing the guiding shaft hole, and is pivotally disposed with a graduated extension board in a manner that allows axial displacement and positioning. The end of the extension board is bent to form a retaining end plane parallel to the reference face to extendingly adjust the axle spread of reference face, thereby greatly enhancing the operating performance of the simple drill jig.
Abstract:
A method and a device for the simplified inspection of the compatibility of the positions of bore bushings in a drilling template with respect to the positions in a predetermined plan in a computer model. The position parameters are detected by a measuring device which is arranged at distance from the bore bushings. The position parameters are transferred to a measurement plane on a reference seat. The drilling template is held to the reference seat at at least one of a predetermined orientation or a predetermined distance from the measurement plane.
Abstract:
A hand-held clamping drill guide including a pocket hole drill guide and a hand-held clamp. The pocket hole drill guide is rotatably attached to the end of one of two opposed C-shaped arms. The C-shaped arms are movable between an open position and a clamped position by the clamp handles. The clamp face on the other arm is pivotally attached to the end of the arm. The drill guide may be provided with more than one hole for drilling adjacent pocket holes. The clamp may be held and operated by a single hand to secure the pocket hole drill guide against a workpiece for drilling pocket holes.
Abstract:
A drilling jig for staircase rails includes a base plate having a first block fixed thereto and a second block adjustably mounted thereon. Rotatably adjustable drill guides with bushings are provided on the first and second blocks to permit adjustment of the guides to a predetermined angle to the base plate. A demountable section of the base plate can be removed to permit drilling of a rail at a point close to an obstruction, such as a knule post. A third block is adjustably disposed on said demountable base plate section and include an adjustable aligning pin guide. The jig is preferably part of a kit which includes a set of drill bits of various sizes, each bit having an elongated shank of the same diameter adapted to fit the bushings of the drill guides. The jig kit further includes a set of aligning pins sized to match the drill bits, the pins having a common shank size to fit the third block aligning pin guide. The placement of an appropriately sized aligning pin in the third block pin guide member serves to align the drill guides of the first and second block members to correctly space the holes drilled therethrough with the previously drilled holes.
Abstract:
Spindle jig mechanism for use in drilling spindle apertures in stair rails, the mechanism including a mounting block adapted to extend along the underside of a stair rail and having a transversely extending cylindrical cavity for receiving a cylindrical support for a tubular guide for a drill to be employed with the jig mechanism. Provision is made for multiple jig mechanisms having a plurality of mounting blocks, each adapted to position different tubular drill guides adapted to cooperate with drills of different sizes.
Abstract:
Methods for using Predrill guide tools are disclosed. The predrill guide tools include a body having a vertical planar member with a front side and a back side, a horizontal planar member with a top side, a bottom side and a tapered end, and an angled drill guide with a front face positioned within a vertical plane; two or more ribs extending from a top side of the horizontal planar member, and one or more keels extending vertically from the bottom side of the horizontal planar member. Methods of using the predrill guide tools to drill holes into deck boards for use with deck clips are also disclosed.
