    摘要: The invention relates to flying vehicles. A centre wing is provided with aerodynamic profiles on the longitudinal sections thereof. A cigar-shaped fuselage is arranged on the central wing. A crew cabin and a cargo-passenger cabin are arranged inside the fuselage. Hollow hermetical longitudinal beams are mounted on the periphery of the central wing on the sides thereof. Inflatable shock-absorbing balloons are arranged under said longitudinal beams. Two keels provided with rudders are mounted on the ends of the longitudinal beams. A horizontal tail is arranged on the keels and comprises a diving rudder which is disposed on a section between the keels and ailerons which are disposed on the sections of the longitudinal beams. The thrust propeller for horizontal thrust is accommodated inside an external annular cowl. The engine for the thrust propeller is arranged inside the tail cone of the fuselage. A set of tale-off and landing devices comprises a means for producing a static air cushion. The cruising flight of the inventive ground-effect craft is carried out by the propeller thrust and a lifting force produced by the interaction of the central wing and a ram air and by the ground-effect of a ground or water surface. The height over ground or water surface must be equal to 0.1-0.5 of the mean chord of the central wing or to 0.2-0.9 of the span thereof when the angle of attack of the central wing is equal to 5-6°, the horizontal propeller thrust ranges from 0.25 to 0.33 of the flying weight of the craft and the speed is equal to 200-280 km/h.

    摘要: The present invention concerns a marine vehicle that derives its lift and control forces and moments from a combination of the following mechanisms; aerodynamic effects on a lifting surface in ground effect, hydrodynamic effects on submerged hydrofoils, planing forces on deployed winglets, and hydrostatic effects on submerged elements. The portion of the overall lift and control forces that is contributed by each mechanism varies as a function of vessel speed. The hydrofoils may be subcavitating, supercavitating, transcavitating or superventilated. The three lift and control mechanisms are individually found on existing Wing-In-Ground Effect (WIG) vehicles, hydrofoil vessels, and multi-hull vessels but have not previously been combined in the manner described. The present invention combines these three elements to achieve high lift-to-drag ratios, low fuel consumption, good maneuverability, low noise, low vessel draft, low vessel motions, and operation in higher sea states at all relative headings to the wind and waves. Applications of this craft include both civilian and military uses.

Additional lift is provided by a lighter-than-air gas such as helium contained in the fuselage. Operationally, the two cycloidal propulsion units and the volume of lighter-than-air gas are concertedly regulated to achieve “wing in ground effect” flight. Importantly, the two cycloidal propulsion units may operate in one of several modes, to include a curtate mode, a prolate mode, and a fixed-wing mode. Additionally, the vehicle may hover. Also, a thruster unit is mounted on the fuselage for providing forward thrust in combination with, or in lieu of, the two cycloidal propulsion units.

The vehicle comprises an aerodynamic flat bottom lifting wing with a fuselage, a longitudinal keel member under the wing, a propulsion unit installed in the keel member, a vertical stabilizer airfoil mounted on top of the wing, and an overturn prevention tail at an aft end the wing. Port and starboard surface foils are pivotably mounted under the wing, and taper from a wider front end to a substantially narrow trailing end. The surface foils are selectively and independently pivoted between a deployed position and a retracted position by an actuator.

    摘要: An extremely large aircraft which is suitable for overseas cargo transport and which includes a fuselage defining a central storage cavity, a wing assembly defining a pair of wing storage cavities, an altitude control system, and a plurality of independently steerable landing gear units. The central storage cavity has a length, height and width of at least 100 feet, at least 16 feet and at least 24 feet, respectively. The wing assembly has a wingspan of at least 300 feet and is configured with a moderate aspect ratio to permit both ground-effect and high altitude operation. The altitude control system controls the aircraft in ground effect such that the aircraft is maintained at about a predetermined altitude. The landing gear units are coupled to the fuselage and are arranged in at least two discrete columns and at least ten discrete rows. The central storage cavity and the wing storage cavities are configured to receive cargo including intermodal re-usable cargo containers.

    摘要: A ground effect vehicle apparatus comprising a vehicle body of integral and contiguous construction including a medial portion having an aerodynamic upper surface, and a pair of spaced apart laterally positioned portions separated by the medial portion. Lower extremities of the laterally positioned portions extend downwardly below the medial portion to restrain air flow between them as it moves toward the rear of the body. Forward extremities of the laterally positioned portions extend forward of the medial portion to, again, restrain air flow from moving laterally. Power plants are mounted within the medial portion and support aircraft type propellers positioned forward of the medial portion of the body. The propellers are mechanized for moving over an arcuate vertical range, such that their force vectors are directable between the horizontal and approximately 45 degrees above the horizontal. In this manner, the propeller forces ram air below and to the rear of the medial portion of the vehicle body thereby developing cushion effect lift and forward thrust.

    摘要: A hull configuration for a vessel that utilizes multiple effects to reduce friction between the vessel and the water's surface is provided by the present invention. In various embodiments, a surface effect is employed such that a supporting cushion of air is provided underneath the hull to substantially isolate portions of the hull from coming into contact with the water's surface. A blower is used to provide pressurized air to the air cushions. The inlet of the blower is positioned in the direction of the vessel's movement such that a ram air effect decreases the power required by the blower. An amount of thrust is also generated by the forward placement of the blower inlet. The vessel has a superstructure that is shaped to create a low pressure zone above the vessel. This low pressure zone creates a lifting body effect such that the friction between the hull and the water's surface is reduced. Boost ports induce a venturi effect by providing a high pressure air flow at the water air boundary of the air cushion. Thus, the boost ports decrease the time required to re-establish an operating pressure in the air cushions after a venting has occurred. The above discussed aspects of the invention result in enhanced speed, range and efficiency for the vessel. Thus, the present invention has particular applicability to fast ferries, military patrol craft and landing crafts.

    摘要: A variable sweep winglet with a negative dihedral angle is provided for a ground effect vehicle. The winglet is positionable at a sweep angle to control the winglet tip clearance from ground. Variable winglet tip clearance reduces the risk of damage or instability due to collision with the ground or water, thereby permitting more efficient flight at lower altitude with an equivalent safety. The winglet is generally positioned by an actuator. The actuator is controlled by a flight control system, or by other manual or automatic systems. A sensor may also be included for determining whether an object lies in the path of the winglet. The sensor communicates with the flight control system in order to vary the sweep of the winglet to increase clearance from the ground or water, thus avoiding impact with the object.
