    摘要: A valve comprising valve members which are biased toward a closed or open position is provided with a flexible cable which is used to reposition the valve members by moving the cable so as to overcome the force generated by the biasing means. The cable may be moved by an appropriate actuator, such as a motor. When desired, the cable is moved to its original position allowing the biasing means to return the valve members to their original position. In one embodiment, the cable is slidably constrained within a flexible, non-compressible sleeve. The valve members according to one embodiment ensure complete closure of a resilient tube passing therethrough without the need to radially align the valve members.

    摘要: A method and apparatus controls the flow rate of a fluid that flows through a fluid path including a resiliently deformable portion. A first roller has a cutout formed thereon on one side thereof, and a retainer is arranged in parallel with the first roller. The resiliently deformable portion of the fluid path is held between the first roller and the retainer. The first roller is rotatably supported by its rotary shaft. The first distance from the rotary shaft to the outer wall of the first roller on the side facing opposite the resiliently deformable portion may be varied in response to the variation in the angle that occurs when the first roller rotates about its rotary shaft. Thus, the second distance from the outer wall of the first roller on the side facing opposite the resiliently deformable portion to the retainer may be varied in response to the variation in the first distance, and the shape in cross section of the resiliently deformable portion may be varied according to the variation in the second distance. The flow rate of the fluid may be controlled by varying the shape in cross section of the resiliently deformable portion of the fluid path in this manner. The retainer may be replaced with a second roller having a configuration symmetrical with the first roller and being rotatably supported.

    摘要: A flow control device has a body with side walls which define a fluid holding chamber, an inlet for allowing fluid to enter the chamber, and at least one outlet for allowing fluid to exit the chamber. A length of collapsible tubing is sealingly attached to each outlet and extends into the fluid holding chamber. A mechanical device is provided for selecting collapsing the tubing at a point which is spaced apart from the side walls of the chamber. When the tubing is collapsed at this point, the downstream pressure in the outlet decreases and the pressure of the fluid in the chamber causes the tubing between the location of the mechanical device and the side walls to collapse. The tubing is formed from a material having a durometer hardness rating selected on the basis of a fluid characteristic or on the basis of a characteristic of particle carried in the fluid. In the latter case, the tubing is selected to the soft enough to encapsulate and seal around particles in the collapsed seal area of the tubing. To open the valve, the mechanical device releases the tubing and the pressure of the fluid in the chamber causes the tubing to return to an uncollapsed state. One embodiment of the device has an arrangement for automatically opening the outlets when the temperature of the body increases beyond a predetermined level.

    摘要: A novel improved pinch valve for controlling the flow of fluids in an unrestricted manner in, at least, two flexible tubes, including a housing for holding a solenoid coil between its outer wall and inner cylindrical core member. The solenoid armature is a truncated cone shape which coacts with a similarly shaped opening at the end of the inner cylindrical core member to optimize the flux path of the solenoid and thus its efficiency. A tube retention member includes openings for holding the flexible tubes. A further opening in the tube retention member holds a plunger member which is captured by a retaining pin. The plunger member is secured to the solenoid armature prior to assembly of the tube retention member to the solenoid housing. The plunger member moves with the armature as the solenoid is energized and deenergized. When the solenoid is unenergized, one of the flexible tubes is compressed between a knife like edge on the plunger member and a body portion of other tube retention member. When the solenoid is energized, the tube is now compressed between the retaining pin and the body portion of the plunger member, while the previously restricted tube becomes unrestricted. Because of the design, the alternate restriction of the tubes occurs on the axis of the valve enabling improved performance for power consumed.
