The devices include a flame piece or element that extends upwardly from a body of the device. A light source can be disposed with respect to the flame piece such that the flame piece is illuminated. A variety of drive mechanisms could be disposed within the body of the device that can cause movement of the flame piece with respect to the body or housing. The flame piece can be coupled to a body or housing of the device using various components to suspend at least a portion of the flame piece within the body or housing.

Typically, when the control mechanism changes the temperature of the oriented crosslinked semi-crystalline polymer, the shape of the polymer changes. A method of making a light fixture (100, 200, 400, 500, 600, 700) is also provided. The method includes providing a lighting element (10, 20, 40, 50, 60, 70), forming a crosslinked semi-crystalline polymer (12, 22, 42, 52, 62, 72), and disposing the crosslinked semi-crystalline polymer adjacent to the lighting element (10, 20, 40, 50, 60, 70) or connecting the crosslinked semi-crystalline polymer to the lighting element. The method further includes electrically connecting a control mechanism (14, 24, 44, 64, 74) with the lighting element.

摘要： Disclosed is a rectifierless light string that uses bidirectional LEDs. Each LED is illuminated on both the positive and the negative portion of an AC signal so that the AC signal does not have to be rectified. In addition, LEDs are mounted on LED holder plugs, which are designed to allow the LEDs and bypass resistors to be automatically inserted in the LED holder plug. The LED holder plugs are inserted into a light string socket that contains a shunt switch that provides a conduction path when the LED holder plug is not firmly inserted in the light string socket. In this manner, conduction can occur in the light string when the LED holder plug is dislodged.
