    摘要: A refrigerant metering charge board that accurately meters a refrigerant and an associated synthetic compressor oil into a product, preferably a refrigerator, is provided. Metering is accomplished by way of servo motors coupled to ball screws which are in turn connected to hydraulic cylinders. Calibration of the refrigerant, preferably R134a, is maintained using a temperature sensor, a programmable logic controller (PLC) and a density/temperature equation that has been empirically fit to saturation data. The preferred equation is a modified Benedict-Webb-Ruben (MBWR) equation of state. The refrigerant charge amounts are entered into the PLC using either a fixed bar code scanner or a hand-held bar code scanner that reads a bar code on the refrigerator. An operator interface, preferably a touch-screen display is also provided. A charging tool to connect to the product for inserting the refrigerant is located in a chargeable automatic connect/disconnect mechanism (ACDM) which allows for automatic operation on a assembly line.

    摘要: A refrigeration system uses a refrigerant which contains, as a main component, hydrocarbon or HFC-152a. A fluid tube, such as, a gas charge port tube is hermetically connected to a refrigerant flow passage in the refrigeration system for filling at least the refrigerant into the refrigerant flow passage. The fluid tube is sealed against leakage of the refrigerant from the refrigerant flow passage by means of a pinched portion and a squashed portion of a flat-plate shape which extends from the pinched portion to a distal end thereof. The squashed portion may be folded at a plurality of portions for enhancing the sealing effect. Further, instead of the squashed portion, an adhesive may be used for reinforcing the sealing effect provided by the pinched portion. Alternatively or with the use of the adhesive, an elastomer may be used for reinforcing the sealing effect provided by the pinched portion.

    摘要: A refrigeration system servicing apparatus includes a digital controller, a vessel for storing and pressurizing refrigerant, a solenoid actuated valve responsive to the digital controller for selective connection of the refrigeration system to a vacuum source, a solenoid actuated valve responsive to the digital controller for connection of the vessel to the refrigeration system, a pressure sensor for providing pressure readings to the digital controller from the low pressure side of the vacuum source, a pressure sensor for providing pressure readings to the digital controller from the vessel and means for quantifying the refrigerant in the Vessel. Three operational modes provided for are: a "vacuum" mode, during which residue material in the refrigeration system is boiled away; a "charge oil" mode, during which lubricant is added to the refrigeration system; and a "charge refrigerant" mode, during which refrigerant is added to a refrigeration system. During vacuum mode the refrigeration system may be subjected to a pressure integrity test. Where in an inadequate vacuum is developed the error condition is signalled and the service technician is given opportunity to attempt correction. If a sufficient vacuum is developed, but cannot be held within a certain range for a minimum period the error condition is signalled and the service technician is again given opportunity to correct the condition, or to abort the operation.

A control unit supplies control signals for activating the connecting portion, the cooling section, and the measuring section in a predetermined order.

    摘要: In a combined recovery, purification and recharging system, a refrigerant compressor has an inlet coupled to a recovery control valve for connection to a refrigeration system under service from which refrigerant is to be recovered, purified and recharged into the system. The compressor outlet is connected to a first port of a refrigerant storage container. A filter for removing contaminants from refrigerant is coupled to a circulation control valve for selectively circulating refrigerant in a closed path during a purification cycle from a second port of the container through the filter back to the first port of the container. A vacuum pump is coupled to a vacuum control valve for selective connection to the refrigeration system under service during a vacuum cycle for evacuating the system under service to atmosphere. A pressure sensor is connected to the vacuum pump for automatically terminating vacuum pump operation when pressure in the system under service is below a preselected low-pressure threshold. The purification cycle may be initiated either automatically upon initiation of a vacuum cycle, or by an operator independently of the vacuum cycle. A recharging control valve is coupled to the second port of the refrigerant storage container for selectively feeding fresh refrigerant from the storage container to the refrigeration system under service during a recharging cycle.

    摘要: A sensor for sensing the quantity of refrigerant in a closed loop refrigeration system, with the sensor having attachment means on a lower portion thereof such that it may be installed in direct communication with the refrigerant line of the refrigeration system. The sensor has a hollow interior portion defined by generally cylindrical sidewalls, in which interior portion a float of conductive material is disposed, with the float being free to rise on the surface of liquid refrigerant entering the interior of the sensor from the refrigerant line. At least one electrode is disposed in the interior of said sensor, in a position such that it will be contacted by the float at the time a certain refrigerant level is reached in the interior of the sensor. The electrode forms a part of an electrical circuit configured and arranged to perform a specific control function, with such electrical circuit being completed to perform that control function at the time the certain refrigerant level is reached, this being as a consequence of electrical contact of the float with the electrode. The control function can include the providing of an alarm to the operator of the system, or the automatic addition of refrigerant to the system as needed, and in controlled amounts.

    摘要: Method and apparatus for servicing air-conditioning systems employing electronic processing means for initially diagnosing the air-conditioning system and, thereafter, if tests or repairs are needed, for guiding the mechanic to correction of its defective operation and for charging the system with refrigerant and oil. The apparatus, according to a preferred embodiment, includes a microprocessor operable in three modes: a "system selection" mode during which the type of system being serviced is identified; a "diagnose" mode during which the microprocessor receives signals indicative of the high and low side pressures of the air-conditioning system and develops a list of possible causes of system malfunction, and a "charging" mode during which the microprocessor automatically charges the system with the desired amount of refrigerant and oil. The apparatus further includes means controlled by the microprocessor for automatically compensating for changes in the viscosity and temperature and, hence, of the flow rate of the oil to ensure the air-conditioning system will always be correctly filled. The invention permits accurate diagnosis and repair to be carried out by relatively inexperienced personnel in a straightforward, efficient manner.
