摘要: An energy absorbing device is provided for reducing acceleration resulting from a force of a high energy impact acting on one side of the device in an impact direction. The device includes two plates transverse to the impact direction, an energy absorbing mechanism between the plates, and a stabilizing mechanism having at least one pair of a projecting element and a receiving element, the projecting element comprised on one plate and a corresponding receiving element comprised on the other plate. Each pair is adapted for enabling the projecting element thereof to be at least partially received by the corresponding the receiving element in a manner to restrict relative displacement between the two plates at least in one direction different from the impact direction and to allow substantially free relative displacement between the plates in the impact direction.

摘要: Apparatus for positioning an occupant of a vehicle in an area of a closeable roof hatch includes a carrier frame suspended within a vehicle below the roof hatch and including a vertical support portion and a horizontal standing area connected to the vertical support portion. A seat assembly for the occupant has a backrest which is guided by the vertical support portion for movement in a vertical direction between upper and lower end positions and is spring-biased to seek the upper end position. The seat assembly has a seating area, which is swingably mounted to a lower end of the backrest, and a coupling brace, which has one end swingably mounted to the seating area and another end swingably mounted to the standing area. Connected to the seat assembly is a seat belt for fastening the occupant.

摘要: The invention reduces the amount of force and acceleration transmitted to the vehicle occupant in a vehicle subject to the shock of a land mine explosion. In the invention, a set of crushable composite tubes are placed between the vehicle floor and the seat of the vehicle. As the floor moves due to the blast loading, the crushable tubes deform, absorbing the energy of the blast and reducing the acceleration transmitted to the seated occupant.

摘要: An observation post such as a turret having an observation opening allowing passage of the head of an operator therethrough, the opening being preferably closable by an armored hatch cover. An external viewing device is mounted outside the turret and is employed by the operator with his head disposed in the observation opening, and an internal viewing device is mounted inside the turret below the external viewing device and parallel thereto, the internal viewing device being of greater precision and having a reduced field of view as compared to the external viewing device. The viewing devices are coupled together to be maintained parallel to one another. A set is mounted in the turret for the observer and is disposed substantially parallel to the observation opening, the seat being connected to the support structure of the equipment by a deformable kinematic system by which the seat can be displaced between a maximum elevated position in which the eyes of the seated operator are at the level of the external viewing device and a minimum lowered position in which the eyes of the operator, in the same seated attitued, are at the same level as the internal viewing device. A locking mechanism serves for locking the seat in these two extreme positions, the locking mechanism including an actuator acted on by the operator for releasing the locking mechanism to allow the unlocked seat to be lowered from the elevated position, under the weight of the operator seated in the seat, against the action of an elastic system, which acts to raise the seat from the extreme lowered position when the weight of the operator has been released from the seat and the locking mechanism is unlocked.

摘要: A de-coupling mechanism includes a link slidably received in a link aperture of a bracket. A pin is slidably received in a pin bore of the link and a receiving bore of the bracket. A first block is connected to the bracket and includes an initiator receiving passage in communication with the pin bore. An initiator is positioned in the initiator receiving passage and retained against a connecting passage edge and oppositely contacts an end face of a cap connected to the first block. A second block connected to the bracket includes a longitudinal channel having a channel diameter larger than a pin diameter so the pin is freely displaceable into the longitudinal channel. An end face of a retaining cap is connected to a second block end wall. The retaining cap includes a stepped portion having a step diameter smaller than the channel diameter and the pin diameter.

The seat cushion defines a cavity shaped to interchangeably receive either the first recoverable insert or the second recoverable insert to thereby selectively vary an energy attenuation provided by the seating system.

摘要: A protective flooring system for a vehicle having a base structure such as a hull or frame and a floor, using a plurality of controllable fluid energy absorbers connected between the floor and base structure for attenuating forces transmitted there between as a function of a control signal applied to the energy absorber. The floor may be suspended or supported above the body, and in either case the energy absorber may be pre-biased by a spring or means of activating the controllable fluid. The energy absorbers may be attached in the manner of a Stewart platform: along the perimeter of the floor by ball-and-socket-joints to provide multi-axis damping. In another embodiment, the protective flooring system comprises a plurality of resilient bladders sandwiched between the floor and overlying tiles, each bladder being filled with controllable fluid in fluid communication with one or more flow valve(s) which can activate the controllable fluid to provide a controllable fluid damping characteristic.
